Why would gas leak into the oil on a 1995 GMC Jimmy 4.3 Vortec 4 wheel drive?

Most likely the spider injectors are leaking down, which is part of the pressure regulator. See it all the time at the shop

AnswerHere is a reply to another post which is an explanation of the Multiport Fuel Injection used in Mid 90's GMC Jimmy's. It's not an answer but is an explanation of what might be a problem. Read on, see ya at the bottom.

Early 90's Jimmys has a multiport fuel injection system which used a fuel regulator and delivery system inside the intake maniford. The Central Port Injector(CPI or Spider) has had a tendency to leak from the regulator putting excess fuel into one side of the intake manifold. The single O2 sensor reading the combined exhaust trys to lean the mixture by shortening up the "on" time for all of the injectors which leans out the other bank of clynders. In essence you have three clynders running rich, three running lean. Not the best situation for a stable idle. The indication of this is that one side of the intake manifold will be relatively clean(usually a yellowish brown)from being cleaned by the gasolene, and the other side dirty from the blow-by products from the crankcase vent. Check out: http://www.asashop.org/autoinc/feb2000/techtotech.htm for a expert diagnosis from an ASE Certified Tech with lots of pictures of what I was trying to explane. Look for "Jimmy CPI Unit" on EBay, they have some of the newer modified units for fairly cheap ($200), their not hard to change, just be careful not to get any dirt into the injectors when you remove the poppet valves at the end of each feed tube. That's about it if it's the CPI, hope it helps. 94

Now that said, in the olden days I would have said that you had a perferated diaphragm in the engine mounted fuel pump, but your fuel pump is way back in the gas tank. The closest contact between fuel and oil is in the intake manifold and combustion chambers. But I don't know how enough fuel could get anywhere there that would allow the engine to run. Take a look at the intake manifold as described above if you have a leaking CPI it could be dumping fuel into a cylinder and getting past the rings, if this is happening it would scrub the oil off the cylinder walls and your engine is toast.Good Luck94

1995 GMC JIMMY 4.3 only starts on starting fluid will stall?

Very good possibility the fuel pump is NG. Very common problem with GM. Fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. The fuel tank must be dropped out to replace the fuel pump. Avoid getting any dirt into the fuel tank during the process.

Why won't your 1993 Dodge Intrepid shift out of second gear?

Transmission is in limp mode and most likely it is the input or output sensor or a wiring problem to one of them.

How do you change the headlight on a 1997 GMC Jimmy?

If you have a "composite headlight" (one housing with high-beam / low-beam lamps inside) you have to locate the two retainer bolts for the housing. To do that, open the hood and look above the headlights; you should see two rods sticking up that have little rubber caps on them. If you remove the caps, you should see that the tops of the rods are hex bolts and the rod is actually a long, skinny bolt. Use a small socket and unscrew the bolts, one headlight at a time so you can reference the other side to get it all back together again (where the bolts go back in can get confusing if you do both headlights at the same time). After you remove the bolts the headlight will pull out of the front of the vehicle, exposing the wiring to the lamps. Unplug the lamps (again, one at a time so as not to confuse which plug goes where) and then turn the bulb base until the lamp comes out of the housing. Be careful not to touch the glass on the replacement bulbs; the oils on your fingers will concentrate the heat and cause the lamps to burn out prematurely. The outer lamp is the low-beam driving lamp and the inner lamp is the high-beam lamp. If you're replacing all of the lights at the same time, you will need to buy four lamps.

1996 jimmy that overheated and the thermostat was changed and now it idles rough There is no water in oil or the oil isn't cloudy so I don't think the head gasket is blown the check engine light is on?

I would try a quick cheap fix first. Disconnect the battery and let it sit for 15 mins and rehook. You may have cooked the ECT (Engine coolant Temp) sensor ( are the fans running when cold? or The IAC ( Idle Air control) sensor may be bad or The TPS ( Throttle Position Sensor) may be bad or your throttle body could be dirty Overheating may have thrown these sensors out of range.

How to reset climate control on 1998 GMC jimmy?

AnswerI'm not sure if you have the same problem I had.I took my '98 SLT to a shop I trusted. There is a unit inside the dashboard containing a potentiometer that had to be replaced ( entire unit ) It wasn't cheap. Parts, labor and purging and recharging of the A/C was around $500. But...., mine was running on full hot during a record breaking summer in the southeast. I had to do it and now it is perfect. My mech said he had "seen a hundred of them". I hope this addresses your problem, and good luck.

To add to the above answer......

If your AC/Heater was working fine but all of a sudden quit working, there is no need for a complete AC system purging and recharging. Buy the Climate Control Module 09352675 and install it yourself. It take about 20 minutes. Another note here: This module also controls the rear window defogger. If the module is truly bad, none of the lights will come on, controls do not work and the rear window defogger will not work.

What is the best and easiest way to either clean or replace fadedyellowed headlight covers on a 1999 Camaro?

The good news about yellow or cloudy headlight lenses is that they are correctable. Cars were originally built with glass headlights that were easily broken. Most vehicles built since 1990 have polycarbonate lenses. This is a type of clear plastic that bounces back from considerable impact, making it an ideal choice for the front of a vehicle. The problem with polycarbonate is its tendency to yellow and cloud over time as a result of UV exposure. Fortunately, a number of products have been formulated to remove this haze and clarify damaged lenses with minimal cost and effort. In most cases, replacement can be avoided. There are many products on the market to accomplish this. Plastic Polishes made by 3M, Mequires, Wolfgang, just to name a few. Visit you local auto parts store and see what they have. You will need a polish pad for your drill. Follow the instructions carefully and you should be happy with the results.
