depends on the year and if your talkin about just to the crank or to the ground and what the motor is in if your talkin about to the ground. a 97 is putting about 295 to 305 to the ground in a single cab short bed with a 4l60e transmission.

Hey SC==You need to replace the lock cylinder not the switch. If it has air bags, there is a chance you can deploy it while working on it so you may want to leave it to a mechanic. You need to remove the air bag fuse first then take off the air bag then the lock plate and the turn signal switch. Then the key reminder contacts at the end of the lock cyl. There is a screw holding the lock cylinder in so removing it lets you pull it out of the steering column. You will need some special tools that can be rented at the parts store.GoodluckJoe.

You can buy a switch for about 15 dollars to replace it but you must remove the steering wheel and lock ring to do this and that takes a couple special tools to remove this.

This may be oversimplifying things, but before you go to the effort and expense of ripping your steering column apart, check to be sure that the key is not so worn out from use that it no longer works. Good Luck!

Check your Key , It may be worn out ,and will not engage the tumblers in the lock properly. Get a New Key cut and give that a Try First

Make sure you are using the correct key, on my GM truck both the door key and the ignition key fit in the ignition, only one works. If you have lock steering try turning the steering wheel to the right or to the left while trying to turn the key.

^^^^ Today, many vehicles have rear disc brakes with what is called a "drum and hat" rotor. The drum part of the rotor houses a 1-piece shoe that is cable actuated as a parking brake.

To replace, the caliper must be removed along with the caliper bracket. By using a long flat heat screw driver, you can drive the shoe downward and out of the actuator (looks like a hydraulic brake wheel cylinder). The shoe will fall, and though it seems that the axle is in the way, the old shoe will twist off around the hub and out. Re-install the way it came out, making sure to inspect old rotor to make sure it is in good shape to accept a new parking brake shoe.

There are 8 plugs:

There are 2 plugs in the back of the engine were the transmission bolts to the engine. You will need to remove transmission or pull engine to fix those.

There are 2 plugs on each side of the engine just above were the oil pan bolts onto the engine. 1 on each side is hidden behind the motor mounts. There is 1 hidden behind the starter. The other one on the driverside you can see good.

There are 2 in the very front of the engine, 1 on each side of the timing cover and they are hard to see. Will have to remove a lot of stuff off the front of engine to get to those. And that makes 8. Caution If you do replace the 2 on the back of engine, the bigger plug in the CENTER of the block is a cam plug. Leave it alone, do not touch there is no coolant behind it. NEUTZ.

If it is cold outside then yes it is best to plug it in to make for an easier start and less stress on the engine.

unfortunately from what i have been trying to do for the longest time, is the same thing, disable the AFM on my 08 gmc sierra 5.3L and have found no easy way to disable it without a tune from a shop. I have a performance exhaust and a air-intake system and programmer from edge but still have to have it taken to a professional shop to have it tuned so the AFM will not work keeping it in V8 at all time. Sorry if this didnt help but like i said there's no easy way to have it done.

Front - Take the Doors off. They Should have a couple screws in the door, and than it should pop out. You can either go buy the door popper tool(10.00 BUcks at Checker), or just pop them with a screw driver. Depending on how old they are and how many times they have been poppe, they will more than likely just break. SO Be prepared to get new ones. Rear - Take the whole paneling off. It's really not that hard.

Yes you can. Just take the lines off where they hook into the oil filter adapter just above the oil filter and screew the oil line fittings out of the housing. Then take one of those fittings to the hardware store and tell them that you need two pipe plugs that size and some plumbers tape.

Go home and rap some tape around the new plugs and screew them into the housing where the lines were hooked up at, and make sure they are tight.

That is all you have to do. Just unhook them from the radiator and remove them if you want. You don't have to do anything to the radiator.

Ok I guess your asking "How do you?" Ok. First locate the water pump (middle of the engine, all the way to the front, and has a black rubber hose attached to it with a clamp). Back out the bolts holding the pump in place. The pump is above the radiater so you should not loose much coolant. Disconnect the rubber hose to the pump. use a file, flathead screwdriver, or pocket knife to scrape all remaining pieces of the existing gasket, the slate should be VERY CLEAN or you will risk loosing a seal and springing a leak on your new pump. Replace the gasket. put the new pump into place, re-atatch the rubber hose with clamp, and tighten the bolts back into place. be sure your radiator is full from loss of coolant during replacement.
