How do you replace an ignition key cylinder on a GMC?
You have to remove the steering wheel and the turn signal switch. but move to the side. It should be empty. There should be a screw where the cylinder is. Just unscrew that and the cylinder should slide out. And make sure not to push the shaft where the steering wheel attaches too. Its a pain to get if you push it in.
----------------------
There are other concerns....you probably have an airbag in the steering wheel. You MUST disconnect the battery for at least 15 minutes to power down the airbag or it can go off. I usually wait 30 minutes.
You will need a special tool to compress the steering wheel lock plate to remove the snap ring.
You will need a steering wheel puller. Also a Torx drive bit to remove the key cylinder pin/bolt combo.
Just take your time and pay close attention where all the parts go. I wish i could be there to help.. I've done a TON of GM steering columns.
One last thing...NEVER have someone in the drivers seat when you re-connect the battery. If the air bag is going to blow that is the time that it will go.
Best of luck...
Yeah I didnt think of that. Was thinking of an older model truck. Thanks other dude for your input.
What would be the problem with 1999 Yukon when it shows misfire on the computer code?
On my 1999 Chev Suburban the answer is the fuel filter. It appears when going uphill and trying to give it a lot of gas the engine is not get enough and misfires. I replace the fuel filter and the light goes away. It comes back after a while and I just change the fuel filter. I have 227,000 miles on my suburban
how do u change a crankshaft sensor on a Oldsmoilbe alero 2001 2.4L twin cam?
Where is the camshaft position sensor located on a 99 gmc Yukon Denali?
It is located behind the intake on top of the engine. It is not the same thing as a Crankshaft Position sensor. Don't get the 2 confused. The Crankshaft position sensor is located behind the starter on the housing for the torque converter. The camshaft position sensor is harder to get at which is why many mechanics will try everything else before they check this sensor. In some cases the engine may have to be removed, especially if a unskilled mechanic tries to remove it and breaks it off. Make sure to use extreme care when removing it.

What causes steering clicking on a 2004 GMC Yukon?
JUST HAD THI SPROBLEM FIXED BY TAKING IT TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. I AM DRIVING A 04 GMC YUKON XL DENALI. THE "KLUCKING" NOISE COMES FROM THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. IT IS APPARENTLY A WELL KNOWN SICKNESS OF GMC LIGHT AND HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS AS WELL AS SUV'S OF THE YEARS 2000 TO 2006. GMC REEFUSES TO MAKE IT A RECALL AS IT DOESN'T REALLY POSE A SAFETY HAZARD INSTEAD THEIR RECOMMENDATION UP UNTIL 2006 WAS A SIMPLE $ 20.00 LUBE KIT THAT YOUR DEALER WILL HAVE. THEY PACK GREASE INTO THE LOWER CHAMBERS OF THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT AND THE NOISE GOES AWAY..IT WILL HOWEVER RETURN AFTER ABOUT 06 MONTHS (THAT PARTICULAR PORTION OF THE SHAFT IS GETTING TO HOT WHICH CAUSES THE GREASE MELT OFF I GUESS, AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT I AM TOLD). - IN 2006 GMC INTRODUCED A NEW STEERING SHAFT THAT NO LONGER HAS TO BE LUBED OR RE-PACKED WITH GREASE - THAT'S WHAT I HAD PUT IN AND AFTER A BIT OF COMPLAINING THE DEALER ACTUALLY REPLACED IT FREE OF CHARGE AND PUT IT AS "WARRANTY" EVEN THOUGH I AM OVER.
GOOD LUCK
Denali is just the name given by General Motors to the top end trim on several GMC vehicles, including the Sierra, Yukon, and Envoy. So I would say it was "invented by General Motors.
