Why would a 1991 Buick century die when you put it in gear?

One of:

1) Inability of the computer to control engine idle speed as would result from a faulty IAC or a general poor running condidion.

2) Torque converter is locked. If this only happens hot, suspect a TCC (VCC) lockup solenoid. If this happens cold also, expect a damaged torque converter.

How do beaches form during winter and summer?

Beaches on the eastern coast of the United States experience higher and more intense storm activity during the winter than in the summer. As a result, sediment is carried seaward away from the foreshore. In the summer, when storm activity is low, sediment is transferred on shore.

Is it normal for a hamster to bite cage or is it a sign of illness?

Yes, hamsters bite there cage. Mine doesn't but I know someones hamster that does. Try picking it up when it does that or shoo it off the cage.

Why is my hamster going in circles It share its cage with 1 other hamster and its cage is 7 by 12. Why Everything seems normal on my hamster. HELP?

Hamsters aren't supposed to share cages if there syrians(dwarf hamsters can share a cage very happily). Your hamsters could kill eachother; hamster's nature is to roam alone. However, if you have one male hamster, and one female hamster, this may not apply, as the female can, well, you know, with the male and before you know it.... pop goes the BABIES. Be prepared.

Is it cruel to keep a guinea pig in a hamster cage?

Guinea pigs need space to move around in, and some hamster cages are pretty small. Ideally a guinea pig needs at least 0.75 sq. m. If your pet seems like it does not like its cage, get a bigger cage soon

Why does my hamster keep stuffing its bedding in the tube leading to the second story it cant get down to food or water and every time i take it in the 1st story it wants to go back to the second?

Hamsters are fiercely territorial and resent any interference with the nesting site. The nest plays a very important part of the hamster's environment and is just as important as their food and water. The nest is a place they associate with safety and security and is most probably the cleanest area in the cage. All hamsters are driven by a very strong "nesting instinct," and all are very protective of their nesting site.

Some hamster owners may have experienced a hamster that has abandoned or deserted their usual nesting place (the sleeping quarters) seemingly for no apparent reason. This usually happens just after cleaning the cage. Then discover the hamster has deserted his usual nest and made another nest in the tubes, wheel, or some other inaccessible part of the cage. The reason they do this is the hamster has become aware their nest has been disturbed / discovered.

If the nest is destroyed by cleaning or by removing the old nesting material and replacing it with all new material it removes the hamsters own familiar scent, when this happens the nest smells different to them and if it smells any different it gives great cause for concern and will cause undue stress. Because of predation risks the hamster may reject the site and abandon it as not being safe to sleep there or to use it again. The nesting material can be changed but it must be done gradually and over a period of time. This can be done by removing about half the old material and introducing about the same quantity of new on each occasion. Replacing the old nesting material will keep their familiar scent at the nesting site.

Why are hamstrings called hamstrings?

The commonly accepted origin is that legs of ham used to be hung by a hook through the space between the thighbone and the tendons behind the knee. Ham/pork used to be more common in England than beef and lamb. Also the word 'hamstrung' meaning 'blocked', 'unable to move' derives from the cutting of the hamstring tendons of an opponent in battle with swords, which left him helpless. For mobility this area could not be fully protected. Jolimont

What the mellowest hamster?

The syrian hamster is quite placid and a lovely rodent. Also the type of hamsters who have bands around their stomachs are friendly. (I've had two of these and were lovely). But it's not always looks, go for temperament. To make sure you want a mellow hamster- go to a store and ask to handle some of the hamsters you like the look of. If any of them bite, don't buy one. But if there is one who doesn't bite, well that's the best one to buy. Hope this helps!

What does it mean if there is a bump on a hamsters back?

All hamsters have scent glands, which can appear as bumps on their sides and/or abdomens. The first thing to do is make sure that you're not seeing one of your hamster's scent glands. If you're pretty sure it's not a gland then it's best to take a trip to the vet to rule out anything more serious.

Is male or female sperm reproduced faster?

== == Neither. They are produced at the exact same rate because they are produced together as a set when one cell splits to become two separate sperm cells. Every human carries two full sets of DNA chromosomes in every cell, except the sperm or egg cells which carry only one set each. Let's call one person Pete. When Pete was conceived he got one set of 24 chromosomes from his father's sperm (23 regular chromosomes [autosomes] and one Y sex chromosome), and 24 from his mother's egg (23 regular chromosomes [autosomes] and one X sex chromosome). When the egg and the sperm meet the two sets of DNA get mixed up, and then reassembled into two unique sets, each set having 23 autosomes (which are shuffled versions of mom and dad's autosomes) and a sex chromosome. These 2 unique sets are Pete's personal genetic code. When Pete matures and begins to make sperm, his body will take regular cells, which contain the 2 sets of 24 chromosomes, and separate the two sets, sending one set to one sperm cell and the other set to one other sperm cell. Pete now has two sperm cells, one carrying a blend of his mom and dad's autosomes and dad's Y chromosome and one carrying a blend of his mom and dad's autosomes and mom's X chromosome. He will make Billions of sperms in pairs in this way, 2 by 2, so that one X carrying sperm and one Y carrying sperm are created simultaneously. Egg cells only have X sex chromosomes, so when Pete's X-carrying sperm hits Jenny's egg, a new cell will be created with 2 X chromosomes and will be a female. Likewise, when Pete's Y-carrying sperm hits Helen's egg, it will yield an XY - a male.
