Upon further searches, it seems like 7 seconds is the general consensus. Pretty crazy to think that we judge someone thatquickly, without even being aware of it.

It was apparently a successful technique because they survived to produce the next generation and eventually us. For our time, the danger from others is far less imminent so we need to learn that we have this instinct but we also have the knowledge to adjust these instant impressions to a more realistic view.
