I don't have specific knowledge of the Grand Cherokee, but heres how I would do it.

The thermostat restricts the flow of coolant circulating to the radiator whilst the motor is still warming up. It is located in the waterline between the cylinder head and the radiator.

Here is where I break into this answer (giant167).

On the 4.7L v-8, the thermostat is located on the bottom left of the engine block. You must drain the radiator and remove the bottom hose to access the thermostat housing.

You might want to loosen the bottom radiator hose clip to drain out and save about 4 pints of the coolant before you start. Look at the top of the radiator and find a large diameter rubber hose headed towards the motor. It should terminate at a dome-shaped housing at one end of the top of the motor. There will be three or more bolts securing the housing. Remove the housing being careful not to damage the paper gasket that seals the housing and hook out the old thermostat. Replace it with one of the same type and temperature rating, making sure it is the same way up. Either replace the gasket or use some gasket past to seal the joint when you replace the housing. Don't over-tighten the bolts. Make sure all the hose clips are secure, then replace the coolant and top it up to the correct level.

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is located on the right firewall directly behind the glove box inside the engine compartment. These control modules are somewhat expensive and have to contain the exact part numbers to accomodate all options. These jewels are programmed by the dealer.

I believe the jack is either under the back seat or in the cargo compartment left or right side behind the plastic moulding.

Look at the gear stick, if its auto then you have an auto transmission, if its manual you have a manual transmission.

I know there is one on my 97 Cherokee on a radiator hose housing just in front of the cylinder head. (there are three coolant hoses going to the housing). I have been told there is another one on the radiator but i havent found it yet.

I was also looking for another sending unit, but the service manual for a 2000 Cherokee says that same ECT sensor on the thermostat housing also drives the coolant temp gauge, thru the pcm. I think earlier models had a separate coolant temperature sending unit on the cylinder head driver side rear.

On the right side fender under a plastic cover there are 4 square relays.

On the passengers side of the trans about even with the front of the door fan shaped switch held on by two bolts.

I suggest taking it apart and cleaning it before you think about replacing.

The switch is nearly $300

To remove, flatten out the retaining washer side under nut, remove large nut, remove smaller ( 14mm ) bolt on the adjustment side.

cleaning is easy, 6 screws in back, pull apart, clean out all that old grease, pay special attention to the two contacts on the sweeper arm, they should move in and out easily as they have springs underneath and are the man contacts, apply new di-electric grease and reassemble.

reassemble and align before tightening, easiest way is to put trans selector in R and move switch until reverse lights come on.

The up to 2000 Cherokee is a SUV. The 2014 is more of a crossover.

Code 12 just means that the battery has been recently disconnected

On my 87 Comanche, Interior of the Cab drivers side fuse box long silver circuit breaker at the bottom of the fuse box. By long I mean rectangular as opposed to round. It is a circuit breaker not a fuse that controls the Wipers.

yes i have that problem all the times the bushing in the ditributor goes bad real quickly

The AW4 trans uses Dextron III. The AX5 and AX15 manuals uses 80w90

The transmission oil line from a 1991 model of a Jeep Cherokee will fit a 1988 model of a Jeep Cherokee because the transmission oil line fits all Cherokee models that were made between 1987 and 1996.

It depends on which engine is in your 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport. I've included all the configurations covered by Chilton's 40602; Jeep Wagoneer, Comanche, Cherokee 1984-1998. You should consult the guide for your specific vehicle because it is possible this answer won't be 100% accurate. I don't think the method of numbering cylinders would change, though. 1) 1989-1998 2.5 L engine; 4 cylinder: It's a straight four; number one is closest to the radiator. Distributor rotates clockwise. Firing order is 1-3-4-2 2) 1984-1988 2.5 L engine; 4 cylinder; It's a straight four; number one is closest to the radiator. Distributor rotates clockwise. Firing order is 1-3-4-2 3) 2.8 L Split 6 cylinder engine: 1,3,5 are on the left if you are facing the windshield. 1 is closest to the radiator. 2,4,6 are on the right. 2 is closest to thge radiator. The cylinder turns clockwise and the order is 1-2-3-4-5-6. 4) 4.0 L straight 6 cylinder engine. Number one is closest to the radiator. Clockwise distributer rotation. Order is 1-5-3-6-2-4 5) 5.2 L and 5.9 L split 8 cylinder engines: 1-3-5-7 on the right, 2-4-6-8 on the left. Distributer goes clockwise, order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

Remove the two plastic trim pieces around the steering column ( they are held together w/2 Phillips screws, coming up from the bottom ). It is right next to the hazard button!

It should be on the transmission. There should be two, a reverse light switch and a neutral switch. Unplug one and put it in reverse. if the backup lights come on, then that's the one you want. Unscrew it and screw in a new one. pretty easy.

Fixing the heater contol valve is very simple, however, what i might say could be totally different than what you need. I have a 1987 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer 4.0 and my heater control valve went bad and started leaking coolant like crazy. This is a very common problem with these older Jeeps. luckily, it's an easy fix. What you have to do is go to your local parts store (Schuck's/Checker/Krager, Napa, Auto Zone, O'Reilly, whatever) and ask for a heater control valve for your application (year, make, model). then it's just a matter of locating the valve (between the coolant reservoir and heater core) undoing a couple hose clamps, taking out the old one and putting in the new one. very simple. I hope this was helpful.

Could be the crankshaft position sensor. On a 1993 Jeep it is located on the transmission housing, drivers side, near the top. The connector sits on top of the intake manifold. Some auto parts stores carry them, others don't. Also, check the spark plug wires for arcing, even if they are as little as a year old. They go out more often than you would think. Replace if they do. If nothing then try replacing the distributor rotor, checking the distributor cap as well. All really cheap stuff.

The camshaft position sensor is inside the distributor. The crankshaft position sensor is in the top of the bell housing on the driver side.
