I have a 98 sport Cherokee and when I put a 800 cca battery in it, it was taller, but I wanted to make it fit. We had to bend the hood latch wire that was hitting the corner of battery out of the way slightly in order for the latch to grap and lock, took a while to achieve this but it has worked 100% since. Badgirl.
AnswerNow that I look at the underside of hood, we also took a hammer to the underside of hood over the battery. Hmmmm. Badgirl. No heat on 1999 Jeep Cherokee?

Where is the slave cylinder on an 1988 Jeep Cherokee?
INside the trans bellhousing. the slave cylinder on a Cherokee Sport, at least on my 1993 Inline 6cyl 5spd standard, is actually called a hydraulic throw out bearing and yes its in the bell housing but its the throw out bearing and not some mystical hard to find thing. you gotta drop the tranny, plus everything else needed to do so, and when its sitting on the ground you will see the throw out bearing with 2 lines coming off it. actually one line you have already disconnected when you took the tranny out. one line comes from the master cylinder for your clutch, the other is your bleeder. there is a plastic top hat looking piece on the line to the master cylinder. you disconnect this by pushing the plastic piece into the connector, which releases the line and baddaboom your system [tranny] is now disconnected from the master. if you're doing this job then you probably know what I'm talking about. if you're just getting started then get your tools out, make sure you have a couple good floor jacks, and start undoing stuff to pull out your transfercase/tranny. like most good repair books say....start by unplugging your car battery. drop your driveshafts. undo all electrical plugs [speedo and such mine had three plugs and a breather tube] remove your starter. take apart your shifter INSIDE the jeep. some bell housing bolts are easier to get from the shifter hole also. support the tranny and remove your crossmember and transfer case. support the engine and remove your tranny. KEEP THE ENGINE SUPPORTED AT ALL TIMES. popthe little keeper off the throwout bearing remove the bearing, replace with new and reverse all this. I am not a mechanic. I have done this 3 times in my driveway. trial and error is all I have. but I've done the swap successfully and made this little tutorial as clear as possible. like me you're on your own. I have owned 3 Cherokees and I am getting the dimestore fixit lessons as I go. truly hope this helps, Good Luck.
How do you replace the rear wheel bearings in a 1999 jeep Cherokee?
Replacing mine right now!! You have to pull the rear axles to do so. First remove wheels, Calipers and rotors. You will have to remove the caliper bracket to pull the rotors. Now the end of your axle is exposed. You will see a bearing plate that is attached from the back with 4 bolts. You must remove those 4 nuts, mine were 14 mm, and the bearing plate will come free. Once this is done attach a slide hammer, recommended, to the lug nut studs and tap the axle shaft out towards you. I did not have a slide hammer but used a big rubber mallet and that worked for me. There were no c clips holding my axle in place inside the rear end, the axle slid right out for me. Once the axle is out I cut the bearing and retaining ring for the bearing with a die grinder. Do not go to deep so you hit the axle. I went deep enough without hitting the axle and took a chisel and hammer to crack the bearing and retaining ring so the could be slid off the axle. You must use a arbor press to reinstall the bearing and retaining ring properly. These are a tight fit on the axle.

Where is the pcv located on a 1996 Jeep Cherokee?
the random hose sticking out of the center of the valve cap
The CPS is located at the 11 o'clock position on the bellhousing looking from underneath the vehicle. If you unplug and then plug in the connector located near the intake manifold and it starts when it wouldn't, plan on replacing it very soon. You will need to jack up the vehicle in the front, support it with real automotive jackstands, and work from underneath. Arrange the best lighting you can, and use 1/4" drive extensions about three feet long, with a universal connector for the socket. Use a magnet, bubble gum, or something to hold the bolts to the socket. If they fall into the bell housing, removing the transmission to get them becomes your next chore. When the bolts are out, remove the CPS, and replace. There is a modification to slot the ends of the bolt holes, removing only what is necessary to slip over the bolts so that they will not need to be removed completely again. Reconnect and start the motor, if that doesn't do it, check all the grounds and the main plug through the firewall.

How do you replace a rear windshield wiper on a 1995 Jeep Cherokee?
1. Buy the correct-fit replacements. The 1995 Jeep Cherokee takes an 11" rear wiper blade (both sides front take 18" wiper blades).
Note though, correct replacement windshield wiper blades are not only correct length, but also correct attachment. Never just buy by length only. Always lookup your vehicle in an application guide at the store or now-a-days you can Google 'lookup wiper size' online. The key to an easy install is correct size/correct part numbers.
2. The new replacement wiper will have step-by-step, illustrated instructions for removal and installation. Take your new wiper blade and instructions out to your vehicle and physically get the old and new wipers in your hands and take a look. The instructions will make 100% sense once you're looking and touching them.
3. Most wiper replacements snap off and on, do not require tools and take approximately 2-15 minutes.

When was the last year Jeep Cherokee was made?
addendum: Assuming you're referring to the XJ body style (Jeep Liberty is sold as a "Jeep Cherokee" around the world), it was only made until 2001 in the US. But it's still being made in China with a modified grille and called the Jeep 2500. It's very similar to the first generation XJ. Here's a link: http://car.autofan.com.cn/S/8/
