What is wrong when heater wont get hot on 1988 jeep Comanche?
Sounds like it's probably a heater core. If there is no heat at all it probably has a blockage... or less likely in your case, a severe leak; check for coolant around passenger floor board. If you disconnect the two heater hoses and pump water through one and it comes out the other, it is not blocked. If no leak is present as well, it could very likely be the temperature change slider in the dash. Hope this helps you a bit.
How do you change the light bulbs in the instrument panel on a 1988 Jeep Comanche?
I have an 88 Jeep Comanche and have replaced the cluster bulbs and also replaced the whole cluster to a new cluster with a tach. You have to remove the dash trims (3 screws), then it will expose the screw for the cluster. Remove those and carefully pull out the cluster. It may not have enough slack due to the speedo cable and you may have The Cluster with a tach beside the Speedo plugs in just like the older one with no problem. Just make sure that the speedo cable clip that attaches to the new cluster with a tach fits the same or you may have to replace the speedo cable to match.

Where is the fuel filter located in a 1986 jeep Comanche v6 2.8L?
It's located at the rear of the carburetor, where the fuel supply line enters. You need to disconnect the fuel line from the carb along with some of the brackets holding the line. Gently pull the line back from the carb a few inches as to allow space to remove the filter. After replacing, be sure not to cross thread the fuel line back into the carburetor body.
Why is my Jeep Comanche backfiring?
Causes for backfiring normally wont change from one car make to another, backfiring in a nutshell: A backfire is when the ignition of fuel doesn't take place in the ignition/combustion chamber, it(a backfire) can take place in the intake or exhaust. It can be caused by a fuel to air ratio not being correct, also if the timing of the spark is not just right that could cause it to back fire. It could be running lean with not enough fuel and too much air, or could have too much fuel and not enough air. It could be because the intake valves are not shut when the combustion takes place, therefore the combustion would take place in the wrong spot. The most likely cause are from: 1. Incorrect timing, the timing issue could be caused by bad wiring/ or bad ignition. 2. Incorrect fuel to air ratio, bad fuel filter, low fuel pressure-caused by weak fuel pump. Most cars will have the same cause for backfiring, as long as it's an internal combustion engine it shouldn't differ...

How to check windshield wiper motor in 1992 Jeep Comanche?
I had this same problem First check the fuse. Second check the 4.8 amp circuit breaker at the bottom of the fuse panel (these are common to go out but you have to get them at the dealer and they run about $30.00)Third check the switch with the switch key on wiper switch on take your test light and pierce the coating on the wire if those three thing are good your should get power on your test light no juice the check those three again. Finally take the motor hook it up with jumper wires to the battery, be sure you know which wire is hot when you do this. I dont know what colors are which you could consult a Haynes or Chilton manual for this
How do you adjust idle on an 89 jeep Comanche with a 4-cylinder?
theres a cable connected to a little turny thing near the front and center of the engine at the top. thats the throttle, its what your gas pedal controls. on the turny part there is a screw that the assembly is resting against, the idle adjustment screw. run the engine and adjust the screw til you get the result you like. I have done this on my 89 jeep comanche to make it easier to drive cause when I was new to standard. dont adjust it to high or low though. I would stay within the 700 to 1100 rpm gauge or it can be bad for your engine or environment. hope that helped

How do you change the fuel injectors on a 1987 Jeep Comanche with a 4.0 liter 6-cylinder engine?
Here we go! First and for most take a pic of your vacuum lines if you can these lines are very brittle and will prob break so be careful ok.
Step 1- on loosen bolts that hold the fuel rail in place ther shud be four of them. The fuel rail is what the top of the injectors plug into.
Step 2- there a clips that help hold the injectors in place to the fuel rail they look like c clips with slots in them be careful when removing them they will spap off and get lost in the engine. Remove the clips and put in a safe place.
Step 3- using a large screw driver gently pry the fuel rail away from the injectors the injectors shud stay in the engine head but may come loose from there when prying. Once you have the fuel rail detached from the injectors look and make sure the the o rings on the injectors are still on the injectors if not look inside the fuel rail and remove them from the rail. Note that there is a washer like fitting on top of the injectors that retain the o rings make sure that they also stayed on the injectors.
Step 4- now you can remove the injectors from the cylinder head and unplug the wire assembly from each injector. Once again make sure when you are removing the injectors that the o rings on the bottom of the injectors are still in place if not they prob fell into the cylinder they will eventually get burnt up after a few miles of running so do sweat it ok.
Step 5- before you replace the injectors it is wise to use vaseline jelly and rub a small amount on the top and bottom o ring of each injector this is very important it help keep the o ring conditioned and make the installation easy putting the injectors back in dry may cause a nick in the o ring and fuel will leak out most fuel pums put out about 80lbs. Psi. Snap wire lead back on top of each injector
step 6- now line up the fuel rail with injectors and tap with a rubber mallet until all the injectors are in place again. When putting clips it is easier if you turn the injectors top towards the firewall of the truck the snap each clip in place. Get the four bolts that hold the fuel rail in place back in tighten them and you are back on the road again.
I own a 88 jeep Comanche and just replace the top and bottom o rings i thought that i had bad injectors it wasnt the injectors that were bad it was the o rings leaking fuel so before you go through the expensive cost of relacing the injectors and you just leaking gas from them its more than likely the o rings they only cost 5.85 that beats the hell out of the cost of new injectors at carquest they cost around 68.00 each so make sure that you need new injectors.

How do you change ignition switch on Jeep Comanche?
Do you mean the ignition key or the ignition switch? The ignition switch is located on the top of the steering column above the brake pedal. It's held on by 2 bolts. It's a lot easier to work on with the column removed. If you mean the ignition key. You need to remove the steering wheel, lock plate and turn signal switch. The key tumbler will either be held in by a screw or a tab on the tumbler. There are several sources on the Internet with detailed procedures.
