The Laredo model is a single control system for the blend doors that direct air through the heater core. The dual control Limited model has more problems, but the same basic issue occurs on the Laredo also. The Limited tends to break sooner since with dual control it has two actuator motors, one for each side. Generally speaking the crankshaft is located deep within the engine. The pistons are connected to the crankshaft and it is the device that turns the up and down motion of the pistons into a horizontal motion that drives the transmission and in turn the drive shafts that turn the wheels. If you ever have an opportunity to see your crankshaft that means your engine has been torn completely apart for a major overhaul.

This is most likely the park / neutral switch on the floor shifter. Next time it happens, bump the shifter toward the park position or move it to the neutral position. If it starts right after that, it is that switch. There was a recall on the 1993 thru 1998 Jeep GC's for that exact thing. There's a retractor or "recoil" spring mechanism that attaches to the side of the belt spool down in the bottom of the area behind the door. The spring side of the keyway that fits to the metal belt spool is plastic and eventually gives away causing the spring to no longer engage the belt spool.

As long as it doesn't "ping" excessively you will be fine I don't have a Grand Cherokee myself, but if its the standard 4.0 inline 6 that chysler has been building for decades, then it sounds strange that yours would need premium. Most jeeps will run just fine off good old 87 octane. Be careful thought, look in your owners manual, and see what that says. If it recommends premium, don't chisce out at the pumps. I know premium is a good $.20 more per gallon, but if you burn a lower octane, you can cause yourself a lot of headaches with mechanical problems in the future. ( maybe not right away, but in the long run you'll shorten the life span and certainly the power output of your engine) Do some reaserch, call a dealer if necessary, but make sure before you start burning low grade fuel. Tyre pressure totally depends on the tire that you have on your vehicle. The suggested PSI or pounds per square inch will be noted on your tyre and you should follow those recommendations.

If you are running tyres that are stock for your vehicle you can refer to the info on the plate mounted on the drivers side door jamb.

if you are running larger tyres refer to the manufactures recommendations.
