How do you adjust the emergency or parking brake on a 2000 Kia Sephia?
Underneath your vehicle, a steel threaded cable comes from the back of one hub and is joined by a short cable from the other hub--then the original cable runs to a threaded end with an adjuster nut in it--and one smaller nut on the end outside of that--(this is the equalizer bar)--you'll see it real close to your transmission. You might have to jack-up the back of the vehicle??? Pull the parking brake lever up sharply and then release it. Pull the parking brake lever to the second click and leave it there. You're looking for a slight drag of the brake shoes when you spin the wheels. To increase the drag, get under at the equalizer bar and turn the adjusting nut to take up the slack in the cables. Get out and spin the rear wheels if you think it's to tight. I will say don't be afraid to crank on it for a while as in this case, a little adjustment really does not go a long way. When you think you have the drag right, go back in the car and pull the brake up the the fourth click. At this point the wheels should be locked and you should not be able to turn them even when trying hard. If you can, tighten them up a little more. Once you've done this, release the brake and make sure the wheels spin freely. If they are still binding due to the parking brake, back off the adjustment a little. And that's basically the whole adjustment procedure.
Why is the heater blowing cold air on a Kia Sephia?
You may need to replace your Thermostat or your Heater Core.
It has to do with emitions. Your sensor is either bad or one or you plugs are bad. Change your plugs first then disconnect your negative cable from your battery for at least 20 seconds to reset your trouble lights. If that does not clear up the problem change your catilitic converter sensors and clear your trouble lights again. try replace the vehicle speed sensor in the transmission, that should take care of the problem.
Kia Sportage washer pump location?
I'm not sure it'll help, but I have a 2006 Kia Rio, and the washer pump is located on the bottom of the washer reservoir directly in front of the right front tire. The only access is taking off (or loosening) the inner fender-- and it's a tight fit! Again, this is for a Rio, and I'm not guaranteeing it'll help you. You might call the service department of your local Kia dealer; I've had very good luck with them for things like this.
What will cause a 94 Olds Cutlass to suddenly develop a problem shifting from first to 2nd gear?
something i discovered with my 1994 cutsup, it shifted roughly from 1st to second. i drove it for a month like that, until i changed the air filter. i removed the plastic box the air filter sits in to vacuum it out, and i saw that a hose (in charge of vacuum-shifting) was loose. the idiot before me had used a garden hose and some rubber bands. i replaced it with a brake cylendar hose off of a 1987 Pontiac lemans, and it cured the problem, no leaks, no low fluid.
hopfully it is just low transmission fluid or a cloged filter. I would check the fluid level (when eninge is warm)1st. if the level is fine, change the transmission fluid and filter if it has been over about 45K miles since it was last done.

How do you route the alternator belt over the pulleys on a 1997 Kia Sephia RS 1.6L?
According to the online manual (www.kiatechinfo.com) it routes over the drive pulley, water pump pulley, and the alternator generator.
To put on the alternator belt, you'll have to take off the power steering belt as well, which routes from the drive pulley to the a/c pulley, and then up to the power steering.
You'll likely have a hard time getting the power steering belt off and back on. Check the online manual for locations of pivot bolts, adjusting bolts, and locknuts for both the power steering belt and the alternator, as well as a routing diagram for each.

How do you bleed the clutch slave cylinder?
without the use of a 'power bleeder' it takes two people. one on the clutch pedal and one below on the slave cylinder bleed screw. once the pedal is fully depressed, the screw is opened and then after brake fluid has ceased flowing from the screw's hole, it gets closed. the pedal must NOT be allowed to raise until bleed screw is seated. repeat until brake fluid stream is expelled with no sputtering caused by air in the line. it is a short run of hose so there should be only a couple of cycles to get air expelled. do watch the level in the reservoir as this procedure is done - if let to run dry, air will be admitted to the system.
