If cloudy water exists when a person has their own well, perhaps a water softener should be installed to help clear up the water. A person can try a small water softener under the sink for a few days to see if this clears up the water before purchasing.

Mix 1/4 cup of bleach, 1/4 cup of dishwasher liquid (ie. Cascade) into hot water in a bowl or a bucket. Make sure it is thoroughly mixed. Put the fabric into the mix for no more than 15 minutes. Then, wash as usual. The red should be gone.

try using Dial soap (the old gold kind) as a spot remover. Dampen the stain, rub the soap in, and hand scrub before you put in the wash. Wash like normal.

From the research I've done, the consensus is that no, you shouldn't dry clean it.

Instead, wash it with mild soap and water. You can clean it in the washer on the delicate

cycle with mild soap too.

My grandmother soaked the fabric in salt water before washing in detergent. Unfortunately, I don't know how much salt she used in the water.

Warmer water generally holds more "stuff" in solution. Because it holds more, things can dissolve more quickly.

They used to carry it in supermarkets, however I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I used to use it all the time - then the stores stopped carrying it, so I looked up the phone number and they mailed it to me.

Now I am going to do the same again because I can't find it anymore. I was told that the NFL, sports teams and hospitals use it. It was the best stain remover I ever had. It also comes in different forms, for wools and silks, etc (a dry stain remover. I think I may approach other drugstores and groceries to carry it again.

The same rules apply to any type of washing machine. If by "be set" you are refering to the top of the standpipe the 36" it will depend on what level the trap is set at. According to the plumbing code the height of the top of the stand pipe is required to be from 18" to 30" above the top of the trap. I have this problem at my house as well, I have well water and get fine sediment in the water, but have now put a filter on the house which helps. The hot water seems to help dissolve the small pieces of sediment, but the cold water doesn't and the little screen gets clogged with small particles. Unscrew the hose where it's attached to the washer and clean the screen, it doesn't hurt to do the hot water as well, you still might find a little collected there.

This is caused by the main drain pipe (into which all of your home's drain pipes converge before draining out to the municipal sewer line) is partially clogged and not allowing sufficient volume of drainage to pass through quickly enough. The problem is often not noticeable when relatively small amounts of wastewater drain away, say from a flushing toilet or using the kitchen sink. The washing machine dumps by far the largest amount of wastewater in the shortest period of time compared to any other plumbing fixture in your house. If the main drain line is partially clogged, the wastewater from the washing machine cannot pass through it fast enough, and the wastewater backs up into the rest of the drainage system in your house (called the "drain-waste-vent," or DWV system). The DWV system in your house is not under pressure, as is the freshwater supply system. Thus, when there is a blockage in the DWV system, the blocked wastewater seeks its level and eventually appears backing up through the drains of your home's fixtures, starting with the lowest one first. This is usually a bathtub on the lowest floor of the house, because it has the lowest (closest to the floor) drain in the house, compared with all the other fixtures (e.g., kitchen sink, laundry tub, dishwasher, and bathtubs on higher floors).

Assuming the blockage is simply accumulated stuff that can be cleaned away either by jetting it away using water pressure, or by using a plumber's snake to scrape it out inside the pipe, this is the simplest way to solve the problem. You can buy devices at hardware stores and home centers that use either of these methods to clean out your drain line.

To prevent recurrence, avoid disposing of stuff in any of your drains, say via toilets or the kitchen sink, that tends (i.e., is known to) build up inside your drainage lines. This includes, typically, human hair, paper towels and facial tissue not intended for disposal in toilets. (Toilet paper, by contrast, is engineered to disintegrate quickly in the drain, so that it won't get stuck in your drain pipes like other types of paper). Also avoid disposing of grease and food waste in the kitchen sink. Instead, dispose of them in your trash. Be aware that you cannot depend on a garbage disposal to adequately disintegrate all manner of waste material. Corn silk, celery, fats and oils, etc., may disappear through your disposal, but they may also be secretly building up in your drain line to cause future backup problems in your bathtub months or years later.
