Seriously?
No offense, but it's quite difficult to believe you comprehend the definition of the word "ecosystem" without knowing where water fits into the picture... anyway-
Water is essential to all life. Even plants in the driest most arid desert, cacti for instance, hoard water every bit as greedily as way modern humans hoard money.
So in short- the role of water is to keep an ecosystem afloat. In multiple senses of the word. We are composed of mostly water. We drink water. We breathe water vapor. Water is ubiquitous, and without it not a single ecosystem would have the ability to sustain itself.
Not even space, which hardly qualifies as an ecosystem in the typical sense, contains inordinate amounts of water (obviously in the form of ice);there aren't even any living organisms in that environment and it retains some form of H2O. this should provide some perspective on water's role(s) in ecosystems.
Though if you ask me, the question should've been what roles doesn't water play in an ecosystem?
That answer would have been under twenty words :)
What does MN stand for in the maritime industry?
MN stands for Merchant Navy in the maritime industry. It refers to the fleet of commercial vessels operated by private companies for transporting cargo and passengers across oceans and waterways. Members of the Merchant Navy are responsible for crewing these vessels and ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Does temperature affect the pH level of different types of water?
Temperature can affect the pH level of water by influencing the rate of chemical reactions that occur in the water. However, the impact of temperature on pH may vary depending on the type of water and the specific chemical equilibria involved. In general, increasing temperature can lower the pH of water due to increased dissociation of water molecules and certain ions.
What compare Marine climates with continental?
Marine climates are influenced by proximity to large bodies of water, resulting in milder and more stable temperatures throughout the year compared to continental climates. Continental climates experience greater temperature variations between seasons due to their distance from moderating ocean influences. Additionally, marine climates often have higher humidity levels and more consistent precipitation patterns compared to continental climates.
What two states are in the marine climate zone?
California and Washington are the two states that are primarily located in the marine climate zone, characterized by cool summers and mild, wet winters influenced by their proximity to the Pacific Ocean.
Why are transition zones different from borders?
Transition zones are areas where characteristics of two adjacent ecosystems overlap and mix, resulting in a unique combination of species and environmental conditions. Borders, on the other hand, mark the clear boundary between two distinct ecosystems with abrupt changes in vegetation and other features. Transition zones have gradual changes, while borders have sharp distinctions.
What land area is below sea level?
There are many places world-wide that have land that is below sea level. I personally know of only two at the moment.
The Netherlands (formerly called Holland)
Southern Louisiana
How many barrier islands are in Georgia?
Georgia has 14 barrier islands along its coast. These islands serve as a natural buffer against storms and provide habitats for a wide variety of wildlife.
Is a biome characterized by its latitude?
biomes are characterized by its general climate and the type of plant and animal species that live there. These characteristics depend on where the biome is located. For example the tropical rain forest biome in the Brazil known as the Amzon Rain forest is called a rain forest because of its plants and animals, but the factor that makes it possible for the area to have such a moist and dense atmosphere is because it is near the equator.
What is the average annual precipitation in North Korea?
The average annual precipitation in North Korea is around 1,000 millimeters. It varies across the country, with regions like the southern coastal areas receiving more rainfall compared to the northern inland areas.
What is the geographical location of a marine biome?
Marine biomes are located in the Earth's oceans and seas, which cover about 70% of the planet's surface. They can be found in various latitudes, from polar regions to tropical waters, and at different depths, ranging from shallow coastal areas to deep ocean trenches. Marine biomes support a wide range of ecosystems and diverse marine life.
What is marine cognitive exam looks like?
A marine cognitive exam typically includes tests for memory, attention, reasoning, problem-solving, and other cognitive functions. It may involve tasks such as remembering sequences of numbers, solving puzzles, following directions, and processing information quickly. The purpose is to evaluate an individual's cognitive abilities and determine if they meet the required standard for marine-related roles.
How many people live more than 100 years in 2 billion?
Assuming a life expectancy of 100 years, the number of people living more than 100 years in a population of 2 billion would be zero.
How many Marine Biologists are there in the world?
It is difficult to provide an exact number as the count of Marine Biologists can vary. However, there are thousands of marine biologists around the world working in research institutions, universities, government agencies, and conservation organizations.
Who discovered the mineral rhodonite?
Rhodonite was first discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia in the 1790s by mineralogist Christoph Friedrich Jasche.
What natural resources did the eastern woodlands use to build their homes?
The eastern woodlands Native Americans primarily used wood from trees such as cedar, hickory, oak, and cypress to build their homes. They also utilized other natural resources like bark, reeds, grasses, and animal hides for roofing and insulation.
What is role of information technology in the Maritime industry?
Information technology plays a crucial role in the maritime industry by enabling efficient communication, navigation, tracking of vessels, weather forecasting, and data analytics. It helps in improving safety, optimizing routes, managing logistics, and enhancing decision-making processes for maritime operations. With the use of advanced technologies like IoT and AI, the industry can further improve efficiency and productivity.
Sea squirts can glow due to bioluminescence, a chemical reaction within their bodies that produces light. This bioluminescence can serve various functions for sea squirts, such as attracting prey, deterring predators, or communicating with each other.
What are the 7 kinds of sailings used by mariners?
The 7 kinds of sailings used by mariners are parallel, traverse, sailings by inspection, middle latitude sailings, Mercator sailing, great circle sailing, and composite sailing. Each type is used for specific navigational purposes depending on factors like distance, direction, and accuracy required for a voyage.
What is seagrasses scientific name?
sawgrass (also saw grass)

a sedge with spiny-edged leaves. • Cladium, family Cyperaceae: two species, in particular the North American Cladium jamaicensis, which is a dominant plant in the Florida everglades
What do scientists often do to reduce the effects of uncontrollable variables?
Scientists often use control groups, randomization, and blinding techniques to reduce the effects of uncontrollable variables in their experiments. Control groups help establish a baseline for comparison, randomization helps minimize bias, and blinding techniques prevent researchers and participants from being influenced by their expectations.
Yes, coral does have exoskeletons made of calcium carbonate. These exoskeletons provide structure and support for the coral polyps, which are tiny organisms that secrete the calcium carbonate to build the coral reefs. Over time, these exoskeletons accumulate and form the large coral reef structures we see in the ocean.
