1525 is the vent solenoid circuit. it usually is with 1526(vacuum) and 1540(abv). there are a bunch of answers to this, and this problem is very common in the 2.3. sometimes, this is also accompanied by the car going "limp home". tcs off/tcs lites come on, and car wont rev over about 2500. it feels like fuel cut. there is a row of 4 solenoids right next to the egr valve. the vent is the second one, the vacuum is fourth. you should change both. some will say first check the vacuum lines, and they can be a problem, too, but i am sure it is the solenoid.

that just happened to me so i checked these postings and first was the checking of the egr. 344.00 for this part but the postings say that you can remove it and clean it out and that should do it. if this doesnt work next check the upper o2 sensor. that's what worked for mine. the 3rd could be and this isn't fact but the cooling sensor may be about to malfunction. the next thing to check if non of these are the problem is the valves may be misfiring but a tune up should fix that if you have to come to this step #4.

29s here, i was told that rotten egg smells means one of two things a bad battery or a bad cat convert which might explain the stalling, if a car cant breathe it may do those things, not sure though. oilcanjerry, the rotten eeg smell means that your cat converter is pluged or pluging up.
