In the 2001 Mountaineer open the tailgate, to the left open the panel where the jack would be located and towards the front of the opening you'll see the computer box on that sticker has a 5 digit number which is the code, you might have to pull the panel out a little bit to see but ITS THERE. YOUR WELCOME. In the 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, especially with the 3rd row seat, remove the trim panels at the rear of the back door and at the tailgate on the passenger side. Then pull the lower trim panel forward CAREFULLY. Towards the front you will see a small black box (says Security Unit) On it in fairly small print will be the 5 digit code. == == if you goto the dealer, they should be able to run the vin number and get it for you. Also try calling the dealer and asking them, or catch one of the mechanisc on the side and ask them. I hope that this helps Your first action would be to look for the card with the number on it located in the drivers manual which hopefully would still be in the vehicles glove box. Open the interior rear left panel. Where the jack is stowed. The computer should be visible when that panel is removed. Tere is a sticker with the code on it. It should be a 5 digit code. Good luck. I own a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer and there is no code, nor computer located in the suggested location. There is no interior left rear panel. The location of the jack is in a rear floor panel that extends the enitre width of the rear. I, too, am looking for the code location. I purchased the vehice used, and do not have the "card" from the manual. I have been unable to find it at this point. Same here, I have 04 mountaineer. Didn't see a "computer module" either. Any help would be great. Look in your glove compartment, there should be a card in your owners manual. You can also try checking in the back by the read look all the way in the back for a code, or call the dealer and see if they will run your vin number and give it to you. Hope this helps. I own a 2002 mercury Mountaineer and I found the module and my code where it was describe on this page. What you do, is open the back passenger side door. (NOT the door behind the driver). You will see two panels where the wall seat belt is located, remove the top panel first and then pull the lower panel out. Near the door opening you will see a small black box that (says Security Unit). there will be a lot of different numbers on it, however, there is only ONE set or FIVE numbers and that is your CODE number.

I have the same problem. I checked the codes in the computer and mine was a bad seat belt pretensioner on the drivers side. It flashes a different number of times for the passenger side. The pre tensioner is a device in the seat belt locking mechanism that is suppose to take out slack just before totally locking up in the event of a crash.

while driving during the rash of rain that we had in eastern pa. iwas getting soaked,i though that my sunroof tubes were clogged up,so i openned my sunroof completely and took a peek at the tubes with a flashlight and used a small can of compressed air used for computers to make sure it was clear then pour a little water into the tube with no luck, so i took the top door trim off,all you have to do is pry off with your bare hands,but make sure you pry straight out,maybe you can use your fingers at the top and a screw driver at the bottom the first clip you shoud snap out is the one near the junction between the front door moulding and the rear door but don't forget to always pull straight out then all you have to do is go around the moulding as long as you have a straight pull you won't brake the snaps or clips, after you take that mouldinf off take off four screws holding your sun visor three on the left side and one in the right side for the drivers side and the oppossite for the passenger side once you do that get a flaslight and as you pry the front corner of your sunroof down take a peek and you will see that that the rubber connector to the tube has separated from either the tube or the hose,in that case all i did was stick my hand in there and pull the connector off ,clean it out and put a little silicone to make sure it does not come off anymore til, i want to get to it again, just pry the headliner down gently,and you will have just enough room to work on it,remember all you want to do is to make sure you don't have any leaks and do not play around too mu7ch because the tube might disappear from view and into the body frame and you will have a hard time to fish it out,like i just did. good luck with your project.

Look under the the plastic cover on the drive side by the breaks and gas pedals

If you have a 5R55W 5 speed automatic, there is no dipstick. It is a "sealed" transmission and shouldn't leak...unless you have a leaking diaphram, in which case you would blow smoke out your tail pipe, bla bla bla. Ford says you should take it in...or look in your owners manual. You should have a 5R55E though and that would most likely be toward the back just to the right or left of the engine.

You lift the vehicle and lower the fuel tank. The fuel sending unit is removed from the top, and the pump can be wiggled out of the unit.

# Disconnect negative battery cabe # Carefully detach the door handle bezel # Pry out the front edge of the armrest switch control plate and disconnect the electrical connectors then remove the retaining screw from the opening # Remove the lower trim panel retaining screws # Once all the screws are removed grasp the trim panel at the switch opening and pull it up and out.Disconnect the power mirror electrical connector

Usually when the A/C cycles it means it's low on freon.

The fuse diagram usually is in the fuse box or vehicle manual for the vehicle. If it can not be found there the manufactures webpage has a diagram.

One of your front wheel hubs is bad and the ensor is sending a bad reading to the computer.

Probably a bad blower motor. Try tapping the blower motor gently with a hammer when it isn't working. It that makes it work, replace the blower motor.

it is located inside the rear driverside panel with the jack its snaped into the panel I have a 1999 Mountaineer, The jack itself is in the compartment inside by Left Rear Taillight. The handle pieces are snapped in place under and behind the passenger side rear seat, under the flap that fills gap between seat back and back cargo area

voltage drops on a weak battery can cause the alarm to trip. Whenever power is interrupted, even for a short time, the alarm will trigger. Sometimes not right away, but usually after the first drive after the power failure.
