The fuel pump relay is located behind the passenger side kick panel, according to the owners manual. However, I cannot locate the reset switch on mine.

There are two ports on the air conditioning compressor on the Mercury Mountaineer. The refrigerant to recharge the system is to be connected to the lower port.

I went to the auto parts store and purchased a book. I have a 1999 mountaineer that trashed the oil pump had to replace the engine, however I pulled the alternator, I am sory to tell you that if you have a 5.0 it is no easy task but the book will guide you. one bit if advice bag and label all the nuts and bolts there will be alot of them.

go to a mercury dealer and have then photo copy a digram for you

How you do this is to place the bulb under twice as much pressure than it is currently at. Slowly increase the pressure and then increase the temperature by 21 degrees celcius. Once you have done all of this, dip the bulb in paint that contains mercury

That's interesting because I was looking at the 2005 Mercury Mountaineer

Owner Guide and it shows :

With engine oil filter change :

The 4.6 L , V8 engine takes ( 6.0 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 )

If a 1998 mountaineer crank will not start, check for faulty spark. This can be done by removing a spark plug wire or coil pack from one of the spark plugs. Then insert an extra spark plug into the wire or coil.

According to the 2003 Mercury Mountaineer Owner Guide :

Both the 4.0 liter SOHC , V6 and the 4.6 liter V8 engines have the Motorcraft

Behind right side of dash, top of A/C plenum. If you open the glovebox and lower it by pushing in the two tabs on the side you will be able to see it.

Open the back door up to your cargo area and on the right hand side you should see a plastic cover over a speaker- if you remove that plastic speaker cover you will notice a silver thing to the left of it stored inside that area. The silver thing is your factory amp. Hope that helps!

i need to find out if the rear headliner lights stay on when rear hatch is closed,if it stays on you will need to replace the latch,to get to it you will to remove trim that is oevr the tag,and the plastic panel that is on the hatch.

Does it never come out, or does it start working after the engine has warmed up? At this time of year it may be that the washer fluid is frozen in the pipes from the container. You need to put a winter strength fluid in the bottle. No, it just stopped workinf within the lst two weeks.

the door code is on top of the computer module, it is five numbers together sometimes you have to enter the numbers in reverse order, try entering the numbers if they dont work try them reversed

There will be two ports with caps on the lines running from the a/c cmpressor. The smaller one is the low side.
