Mileage is not what determines when the trouble code is cleared. There specific criteria that has to be met before the light will turn off. For example some codes require that the car go's thru a specific number of drive cycles. A drive cycle would be the engine starts cold then fully warms up. Some codes require this to happen two times or more. Other codes require you drive the car at a specific speed for a certain length of time. Its very technical and specific.

Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC

• The control module turns OFF the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does not fail.

• A current DTC, Last Test Failed, clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.

The typical gas cap code should clear after you fill up and use about 1/3 tank of gas. But like the above says 3 ignition cycles so go drive your car and let it cool down three times.

Yes. The 1998 has a kleenex box holder built in. The seat will go up far enough for the shortest female and will crush a normal man's legs. It has woman written all over it.

the CD changer is inside the center console in the mercury mountanier

A door panel on a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer is held on by several screws. Once all the screws are removed the panel can easily come off.

I have a 02 with 4.6l if it is the same it is pretty easy to do,go to autozone.com and look up repair info then go to repair guides you have to set up a free membership and it will let you view the repair guides for free,they are very helpfull

You can check the transmission fluid, there is a little window on the side of the transmission on the drivers side that shows the fluid level and you can also add transmission fluid on that same side. There is no dipstick to check the level.

The plastic covers usually snap onto the outer edge of the speaker. Using a small pry bar or a screwdriver around the edge should pop it off.
