I'm not exactly sure, but I have this same problem (well I call it a problem anyways).
One forum told me it the windshield washers fluid low level indicator, and remember, there are 2 separate tank for the fluids; one is in the back.
Another forum told me is a radiator coolant low level indicator.
Either way, I have both toped off and still the light stays on or sometimes blinks on and off - I wrote it off as a bad sensor.
I would recommend checking both you windshield washer and coolant fluid levels and toping them off... in your case the sensor may still be good and perhaps this should do the trick... hope this helps...

Yes, but its alooot of work. I'm pretty sure you will also need the 6spd tranny that goes with it, or five depending on which generation 1st(5spd) or 2nd(6spd).
