i don't know about the 3000gt but Mitsubishi is very good i bought one brand new and had it for 15 yrs the most money i put into it at one time was $583

I own a 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (non turbo). It's a great car. It takes forever for a part to break, but remember that when it does it'll cost you quite a bit to fix (... well, just slightly higher then other cars.) And remember that it only takes Premium fuel

1/2 way true. all FWD models, all years do NOT have rear steering. 91'-93' AWD models had rear steering, 2nd gen. 94'-99' does not have rear steering.

Yes. The 3000GT was designed as a performance car, not a long lasting one. However, annual oil changes and basic maintenance is absolutely crucial for the life span of a car. Also, take into account the driving habits of the owner, but, 220,000 miles is quite a bit for that car.

Remove the Drivers wheel (Left front as viewed from the inside of the car) and then remove the inner fedner panel so you can see the belt from the wheel well. The tensioner puller is held in placed by the tensioning bolts and is clearly visible once the side covers are removed.

3000gt's never came with a 2.4l engine

From what I've read online, it looks like it's connected to the underside of the throttle body.

depends on if you've got the tt model but I'll assume you have then 1st replace the stock air filter with twin induction kits

2nd fit a full stainless steal exhaust including a de-cat pipe.

3rd next buy a boost controller (i prefer the electronic type more expensive but worth the money) and fit an after market boost gauge the standard 1 is rubbish

4th take your car get it chiped so as to remove the fuel cut off and the boost limit and rec limiter

5th set your boost at about 14psi just about 1bar

6th get the car on a rolling road and make sure the thing is runnig sweet

7th enjoy

It is located on the underside of the car, right before the dust and brush guard starts.

I am having same issues. I did little research and found out Throttle body and MAF sensors are gone bad or dirty. Ground wiring also. Vacuum leak, bad battery, etc. Good luck.

3000gt Mitsubishi 1992 is jumping out of reverse

Hydro locking occurs when water or another incompressible fluid has been introduced into the engine combustion cylinder. This can cause very severe damage to the engine. It can bend connecting rods or in extreme case have a piston punch trough the side of the block.

One of the most common causes are cold air intake system, without a way to block the water due to the intake being lower and generally is exposed. Heavy rain or large puddle can go through the filter into the engine.

Another potential cause is head gasket issues, you can tell if this is the cause by checking the engine oil, if it's milky then it's because coolant leaked into the engine and got into the combustion cylinder.

If it is a manual transmission, then it is on the front of the transmission. It is one of the two electical connectors on the transmission. The other is the vehicle speed sensor on the backside of the transmission.

This is a complicated task. My friend who is auto-friendly ended up taking his van to a mechanic to replace both the driver and passenger window regulators. The astro van is notorious for this kind of repair. It cost him $400.00 including tax for each regulator.The regulator itself is about $200.00- $250.00. I am going to have a look at my own van as my passenger window will not operate at all. Will let you know what kind of luck I have if any.

To adjust the timing take off the timing cover,take off belt and then line up the marks on the timing gear.You will need a special tool to hold the gears if it is a DOHC(duel over head cam)

Yes it has what is called a passive system, when activated the headlights pop up and the horn beeps rapidly, to disarm you must unlock the car with the door key.

SL is better in terms of luxury. The base had most of the options(doesnt mean it has them) of an sl but for the sl they came standard. SL's usually have leather seats, moon/sun roof, power driver seat, crome rims, sometimes digital ac control, sometimes ecs or electronic controlled suspension which is pretty cool (I have it) it will stiffen the suspension a little. The engines are for the most part are identical 222hp dohc. Unless it is one of the newer models that could have the 160hp sohc. Which was only put in bases not in the sl.
