For 1998 GST Spyder M/T is behind-underneath the radio (left one is the starter relay)

probably needs a fuse either underhood fuse or under dash fuse if not either you will have to bypass directly to the battery

Locate the rubber housing of the bulb behind the headlight assembly and pull/disconect it. Unscrew all bolts. Lift and pull out the front part of the headlight assembly and replace the bulb making sure the contacts are aligned. Put back and bolt the headlight assembly and plug.

Remove the drain plug and oil filter. With the drain plug off, pour 2 quarts of kerosene in the oil fill. Let sit for one hour. Reinstall drain plug, fill with oil, and install new filter. Remove all spark plugs and disconnect the coil wire. Pour one tablespoon of oil into each cylinder. Turn the engine over for 45 seconds in intervals of 15 seconds each. Install a new set of plugs, reconnect the coil wire. Charge the battery. Spray a small amount of starter fluid in the air intake. Start the engine. Drive the car for at least 10 miles. Change the oil and filter one more time. You should then be good to go.

Change your spark plugs!!

yes the bolts are too long at first, i just finished changing mine today. my timing belt exploded on me. turns out in order to actually get the bolts clear of the block you have to take off the passenger side motor mount and loosen the others and basically push the engine down. with everything loose it'll make it, just barely, but you can already see how close it is. the way you have it now you can tell it's only a few mm to clear. try it this way, it'll work. and you'll have to take off the motor mounts anyway to hoist the engine out if that was your last resort.

Don't loosen the other motor mount!!!!!! if you loosen the passenger side mount and remove it , put a floor jack under the oil pan but be sure to use a block of wood to disperse the weight so you don't crush the oil pan. Jack your engine up about 6 inches, the motor mount and the other bolts will be easier to access and will slide past the fender wall easier. The water pump is actually attached to your timing belt so be very careful not to move the crankshaft or the camshafts when you remove the belt, this is one of the hardest engines to get back in time.

MSD had a module a few years back that would convert a tach signal. Not sure hear da rumor about using a wire off the obdii port, but never seen anyone with a mitsu do it and work. Have seen the MSD tach adapter work superbly.

I have a 2000 eclipse and my suspension is bad. My car bounces a lot over every bump. I know it's my shocks that are bad. I went online to buy some but I keep finding struts and single shocks. I'm confused on what to get because my car has springs in its suspension and I noticed that all the struts ive seen online don't. I just need help finding what to buy basically.

Mitsubishi eclipse is famous because of failing transmission. If I were you I would start with checking transmission fluid level. But most likely you will have to change transmission or fix one you have.

Every 60,000 miles you do not want to put this off, i learned the hard way, i bought my car and was not told it needed a new timing belt , it blew when driving on freeway. I was lucky enough that it did not bend valves but my car is a 4 cyl,, v6 are guaranteed to bend. Regardless shop will charge nearly 1500 bucks, that is the quote i was given. I had a family member help me n it cost $60 in belts (i replaced all the belts), 5 hours of work, and $20 in pizza... So do not put it off for too long. Good Luck

when you crawl underneath the car its about in the middle of the car about under the shifter. you'll see the oil pan it looks like a box and the plug is on the back on the bottom. but be sure to put a new srain plug gasket on the plug before putting the plug back in

Sounds like a CV joint problem. They're not terribly expensive. Take it to a reputable mechanic. If this is the problem, $200 tops.

The highest I have seen is 210 hp if it is bone stock prob more like 190-200. and that is if the engine was not beat to death and cared for.

Of coarse they can! I have a 99 eclipse and I have fit 8 people before ( 6 of them happen to be 5'3" and 100lb girls). However if you try it they better be dating or really good friend because things get a little touchy.

T off of stock pressure switch (sending unit) It is below the intake manifold on the back. Unscrew the lead clip with a phillips, then remove the whole unit with a 1" socket.

i suppose you could but i dont believe its a direct fit ,you would also have to switch the entire wiring harness for the motor if you can sort them out from the under hood harness and the the pcm and maybe the trans and poss the fuel pump? have custom exhaust made, and so on

In the plastic intake tube between the air filter box and the throttle body.

You can find it attched to the condenser air quide. If you want to get to it, you will have to remove the glove box compartment.

The oil light is indicative of extremely low oil pressure.

First check the oil level, if the car has little to no oil in it, the light will come on.

Assuming the sensor is functioning correctly, and the car has oil in it, the oil light being in would indicate a clogged or broken oil pump which can not provide sufficient oil pressure.

Driving with very low oil or a malfunctioning oil pump will damage the internals of the engine in very short order and lead to expensive repairs. If the oil light is on and the oil level is where it should be, you shouldn't drive the car and should have it towed to a mechanic to be looked at.
