How difficult is it to change the O2 sensors on a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 3 ltr?

If I'm not mistaken...u have to take the valve cover off and it should be located right there

The GT and I didnt know a GS has a V6 option, but anyway they would be put in the same way, but you have (3) O2 Sensors! I don't know which you are replacing, But you have one on each exhaust manifold. The one on the front side (closest to the radiator) is almost in the middle of the manifold, has a couple wires and the wires lead to a square block connector, and is fairly easily removed with the sensor wrench. The other is a bit hidden. is is almost against the firewall on the left (Looking front to back on the car) protruding outward toward your left on the back manifold as you are currently looking at the car. That one will cost you a little blood to remove as quarters are a bit tight accessing it, you will need a swivel on your ratchet. That one also has a wire set that leads to a square block connector also. The third... underneath the car look past where the two exhaust pipes come together and you will see it protruding out of the exhaust pipe.

It is beyond me why you would need or even want to take the valve cover off, evidently he doesnt have a 3.0l, and still cant figure out why he wants you to take the valve cover off. Think he is lost :) But anyway that's where your (3) O2 Sensors are located at on the V6 3.0l on a GT and should be the same on your 3.0l.............

How do you change struts on a 2001 Mitshibushi Eclipse?

Step1 Lift the front end of the Eclipse with a floor jack, and support it by the frame with jack stands. Use a tire iron to loosen and remove the nuts holding on the wheels, and set the wheels aside. Pop the hood, and locate the upper strut mounting nuts in the frame. They're directly over the wheel wells.

Step2 Use a ratchet to remove the three upper mounting nuts connecting the strut to the frame, but don't touch the nut in the center yet. Under the Eclipse, find the damper fork at the bottom of the strut. The strut is a set of hardware behind the wheel hub that has a spring around it with the damper fork at the bottom. Remove the stabilizer link nut holding the top of the damper fork to the stabilizer bar. Unbolt the lower strut mounting bolt connecting the strut assembly to the damper fork with the ratchet and an adjustable wrench. Pull the strut out from under the car, and repeat this step on the other side.

Step3 Compress the coil spring on the top of the strut, and hold the piston rod or the stem directly below the upper hardware on the strut with a wrench while you remove the upper strut nut. Lay out each piece of the strut in the order you remove it from the assembly so you can put it back together without any problems: upper bracket assembly, spring pad, collar, upper bushing, cup, bump rubber, dust cover and coil spring. Repeat this process on the other strut assembly, and replace the shocks and any other parts showing wear. Reassemble the struts, set the dial on your torque wrench to 16 ft-lb and tighten the upper self-locking nut until you feel the wrench slip. Remove the spring compressor.

Step4 Position the strut in the damper fork. Insert the mounting bolt, and torque it to 70 ft-lb. Slide the strut studs through the holes in the frame, and torque the upper mounting nuts to 33 ft-lb. Attach the stabilizer link bar nut to the damper fork, and tighten it according to the specs for the model year of your Eclipse.

Step5 Mount the front wheels, and lower the front end of the Eclipse. Have a professional align the front end of the car.

What could be the cause of misfiring of Cylinder 1 of 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

Answer

Faulty: spark plug, spark plug wire, ignition coil, ignition module, fuel injector are the most common. Coolant leaking into a cylinder is another.

Internal engine problems such as burnt valve, broken valve spring, bent push rod, worn rings

Answer

this could be anything to do with the cylinder on your car. The plug, the wire, the cap, or the coil (whichever you have.) your best bet is to do a tune up on thecar and do all the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. if you have a coil pack, try to change those. this is all i can say for now. if that doesn't work, ask the question again and give a little more detail on how the car is acting.

Technically speaking, cylinders do not "misfire": the spark plug causes a spark which causes the fuel to ignite which moves the cylinder, so it is the spark plug that may misfire. Given that, motor vehicle spark plugs may misfire due to any of a number of reasons, including watered-down or low-grade fuel, old and/or dirty oil, fouled spark plugs, clogged cylinders, insufficient oxygen to the plugs, poorly aligned cylinders, et al.

How do you replace the headlight bulb located on a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

For a 2001 Eclipse here is what you do.

Pull out the plug that gives the light bulb juice, and remove the rubber seal around it. Then there is a little latch that will pull a little bit down and out [just like a safety pin]. THen pull out the bulb. Put the bulb in, and re-attach the pin. Then just pop the rubber seal back on [be sure to let the prongs of the bulb protrude so you can hook it back up], and then plug the energy source back into the bulb.

Then, wah-lah! You once again have headlights.

Good luck! You can do it!

To replace the headlight you have to remove the whole headlamp housing. Remove all 4 screws and unplug the harness in the back. there should be 2 screws on the back of the bulb remove those and change out the light.

easy fix.

From Curtiecia

I hope its not too late - i have a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS and have had to change the headlights bulb also. You will not need any tools to do this.

Just open the hood, stick your hand directly behind the headlight you wish to change (preferbably when the engine is cool - its hot down there!)

Your feeling for a rubber gasket (round dark colored rubber thing, reminds me of the tub stopper).

When u find the gasket pull it out and Voila there's the bulb.

Simply disconnect the bulb from the other plastic piece (has wiring attached to it).

Remove the bulb from the rubber gasket change it and then put it back together

And its veryyyyyyyy simple, if it helps I'm a female and did this very quickly (no I'm not a mechanic either)

How do you change brake lights on 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

You have to take the whole light assembly off by going through the trunk. There is a panel the snaps off the wall of your trunk. In there are a few nuts I believe are 10M that you will take off and the assembly will pull away from your car.

Where is the IAT sensor located on a 1997 eclipse?

if you are trying to find this to make more power by upping your fuel mixture by tricking that sensor i am telling you its a bad idea. you really are not going to make any real power, contrary to popular belief, especially if you are an N.A. motor. if you are trying to find it for a real reason it is on the back side of the intake plenum closer to the passenger side of the motor. it has a grey plug and what will look like a threaded nut and nipple that attatches it to the plenum. honestly if you are trying to trick the ecu with that sensor you are going to regret it later on. in all actuality if its a turbo car you should even be worried about something that insignificant spend the dough get a boost controller and youre good. if its an N.A. car nothing you can ever do short of a motor swap or a heap of nitrous will ever make that car fast.

Where is the ECU location of a 1998 Mitsubishi GST?

the ecu should be located under the center console behind the stereo

Why does your Mitsubishi Eclipse stall and idle low?

a couple of factors can affect this which include a dirty throttle body, a bad O2 sensor, a dirty air filter, bad spark plugs, wires, or the ignition coil itself, and the very last thing which would be the last thing you would replace is the fuel pump and the fuel filter but that is very unlikely but still possible, best of luck. I also own an eclipse and had there problems so just try and do the first two things on the list and if they dont work try the others.
