About how much should it cost to move under 1K sq feet of furniture from the Midwest to California?
It cost my husband and I about $1,800 to rent a 17 foot truck for the 5 day journey from Minneapolis, MN to Olympia, WA (about 1700 miles). That was for rental and gas. Keep in mind that when the truck is full, it will probaly only get 8 miles or so per gallon. Other moving companies would have charged a similar price. The 17 foot truck wsa large enough to hold all of our belongings to fill a very cramped 850 sq. ft. apartment.
For distances over 300 miles,it's frequently the same price to pay a professional moving company as to do U-haul. This assumes you pack everything yourself, and they load it. I would call and get estimates from three different moving companies, then check rental truck prices. It it's going to cost the same, it's a lot less worka and hassle to pay the movers.
There was a similar question on Moving s.org regarding a move from California to Kansas. A lady was asking how much cheaper it would be for her to rent a Uhaul and drive it to Kansas, as compared to hiring a full service moving company. It turned out that it will actually be cheaper for her to hire a long distance mover, rather then move by herself. (See the link to the right)
The cost of a move depends on the distance traveled, so exact cities
would be needed for an accurate quote. Have you considered moving pods, where you pack a portable moving container and the company picks them up and moves them to your location? Typically someone in a 1k sq ft residence might require 3 to 4 portable storage containers (depending on the size of the containers.) Assuming the Midwest means Chicago and California means San Francisco, 3 moving pods would run somewhere around $2600 and if 4 containers were required it would be roughly $3000.
The exact moving costs would depend on which cities you're moving to and from, but you can get a quick quote from most moving companies online. Some companies offer moving containers that are great for smaller moves--you can reserve 2-3 containers, but if you only fill 1 or 2, you're only charged for the space you use (a typical 1 bedroom apartment uses 1-2 containers). It works very similar to a moving trailer option--an empty 28' trailer is delivered to your home, and you pack and load, only using the space you need. A 'per-foot' rate allows you to control your final charges.
How much does it cost to ship a car from the US to the UK?
Two ways to ship a car...container and non container. If it's a regular car (i.e. a family car that you won't get too upset over the possibility of minor scratches), the cost should be under $1500.00 USD (fifteen hundred). If scratches or dings are a concern, then you would want to ship in a container. Container shipping for an average size car should cost under $7000.00 USD (seven thousand). Insurance would be extra and should cost between 1.5 and 2% of the car's value. Most companies also add a small (about $50.00 USD) handling fee.
I just checked on having an Austin Healey shipped from west coast to Italy, I was surprised that it only costs $1500 through Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines, who charge variously by weight and by size.
Car shipping rates vary dependent on the amount of traffic moving to that particular part of the world and distance shipped. Many shipping lines will offer very attractive car shipping rates due to the volume of return traffic they have from a particular country.
How do you ship a car across the country?
Moving Car Across Country Basically, there are several options to move your car across the country - one of them is to drive it yourself, but I assume that is not in the scope of this question.
Another is to have someone else to drive it for you and there are several companies that offer this service. This option is usually cheaper, but it means your car will accumulate all that mileage and will be driven by someone you might not want to drive it.
Finally, the third option is to hire an auto transport company, and have your car transported on a carrier (those trucks that you can often see on highways with lots of cars loaded on top of them). That option is probably the best if you want to preserve your car, especially if you spend some more money and have it transported inside a closed carrier (as opposed to regular, open carrier).
When looking for auto mover it is recommended that you ask around, maybe one of your friends, relatives or coworkers have used any auto transport companies in the past and they can recommend it to you (or recommend NOT to use it, which is also a good piece of information...).
Once you have several quotes check the companies that sent you those quotes. For example go to Better Business Bureau website and verify that the one you liked the most doesn't have a ridiculous number of claims, in which case cross it out immediately. Also, check for similar questions and answers on this site.

There are many transport companies out there. Go to a local car dealer and ask them for names talk to the high end cars like bmw mercedes etc. They move millions of dollars worth of cars a week in and out.

Most auto transport companies are simply brokers. They work with you and the auto transporters so you don't have to. There is no major national auto transport companies like there are for household moving. So the brokers find a small carrier company that will do the move and set everything up.

Get quotes and compare rates. You should also check out the auto transport company track record at transport reviews.
Rule of thumb is 32¢/mile
NY-FL $500-600
FL-CA $750

AnswerI would call three name brand moving companies and get estimates from each. The most affordable alternative is for you to pack everything, so they just load it in the truck. AnswerI just received a quote for my move. To move 6,500lbs., from Dallas to LA., they were going to charge me $8,500. Needless to say, I have found a friend that will do this for $1,000! Good luck! How can you find a legitimate and cheap mover?
Search for a reliable, local, and affordable moving company in your area. My family and I used All My Sons Moving and Storage Company last year and I was blown away by their service and their prices! They are the real deal and I recommend them to all of my friends and family now.
Good luck!
AnswerAlways keep in mind - you get what you pay for. I would recommend instead of looking for a cheap mover to look for movers with good reputation, and then try to negotiate the price down.
People who have recently moved and self-storage management are often good resources. The Better Business Bureau will also list a "behavior" list of any candidates you come up with.
It would depend on the lifestyle you are willing to have in Mexico; If you want to bring your furniture or if you want to rent or buy in Mexico. For a relatively comfortable standard of living, you would need about $ 2,200 for a lease payment (including deposit) in a safe neighborhood; Another $ 5,000 would be needed for basic furniture, which would include a good stove, dishwasher, refrigerator and washing machine. Then you can live comfortably in Mexico for as little as US $ 1,500 per month, but the more luxurious your lifestyle, the more expensive it becomes.

How much will it cost to move all your stuff from California to Georgia?
It depends on how much stuff you have. Figure out how much furniture and junk you want to haul and what size truck it will fit in, then either call a moving company or a truck rental company and ask them their price. If you can fit it all in a backpack, then it costs the price of a bus ticket. Good luck with that.
Can a 16-year-old girl leave home without permission?
A Teenager CAN move out at the age of 16, if it has been okayed by a judge through emancipation.
i live in cananda my daughter has moved out 2 years ago and lives with her boyfriends parents and boy friend . iv given written permisssion because she doesnt want to live here.me her mother .shes informed me that i have noterise it and i dont want to,iv already gave permission .can you give me advise on it di i have to legally do that, angela
The legal age of majority in most of the states is 18. Alabama and Nebraska it is 19, Mississippi and Pennsylvania it is 21. Some states do allow minors who are at least 16 years of age to petition the court for early emancipation status.
Contrary to some people's notions, the emancipation process is not simple nor inexpensive. Specified state guidelines must be followed, in almost every state permission of the minor's parents or legal guardian is necessary.
A minor who leaves home w/o parental permission being given to another qualified adult caretaker, will be classified as a runaway or absentee minor, and be will subject to being taken into custody by authorities.
As to the issue of having written parental permission notarized, it is necessary for that to take place if the document is to be seen as "genuine", by a court. The parental consent document must also contain specifics pertaining to the care of the minor child and address such issues as financial support.
Yes, just make sure you dont get caught and make sure whoever you're living with will properly protect you and support you. Good Luck
== == There is no "cheap" time to move to Maui, or any one of the other Hawaiian islands. The cost of living is a bit more expensive than many places because it's a major tourist destination, and most of what sustains Maui must be delivered by boat or plane. So in turn that extra cost is added into the cost of everyday things. Most of the jobs on Maui are directly related to tourist activities, in hotels, condos, timeshares, fishing, boating, and travel. Unfortunately, the ratio of pay scale to cost of living isn't all that great. However, many people decide the simple pleasures in life, such as swimming daily in a warm ocean, never needing to wear a jacket, and feeling relatively safe in a small, rural population are worth the trade.
The best time to plan a move would be during September or October. These months are typically the least expensive to travel. Many restaurants offer 50% specials during this time. The housing market always shifts, so there isn't a better time to look for a rental or property to purchase.

How do you prune a weeping cherry tree?
It depends on the look you want. You always trim the tree from the bottom of the tree. To make it look like an umbrella which is trimmed high, or a mushroom which is evened at the lowest point. You should always keep the strongest central "leader". This will be the support for the weeping limps when it is mature. The "mushroom look" will cause scars and will make the tree look unnatural. The idea behind the weeping cherry tree is to look as naturally beautiful as possible. You decide which direction the tree grows during its pruning, just make sure you pick a good strong leader.
