It is the odometer in kilometers, the first is in miles.

Okay for those who care to know... ELECTRONICS 101 - All you do is remove the cluster and with the use of an alternate 12 volt power source attach a ground to one of the screws on the rear of the cluster. then go to the base of the digital number bar and if you tap the far right post 10 times the last digit will then change to the next higher number . going towards the left and tapping ten times with the positive lead will then change each digit to the next higher number. far right is single miles next over to left is of course tens, next over hundreds, and next being thousands and of course last being 100 thousands. BUT DONT DO IT BECAUSE YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO !!! LOL

I'm not sure that a tach requiers a fuse .i could not trace out the useage for a fuse on my 91 max.my tach went out.however i did trace out through my chilton schematics that the tach receives its electrical power dirrectly via the acc1 & acc2 relays located beside the fuse block. under the steering wheel .behind the panel closest to the drivers door.on the right side of the fuse panel there are 4 relays .1 brown ,3 blue. the brown is rearwindow defogger, the bottom blue one is the ignishtion relay #1 .the 2 in the mid area are acc1 & acc2 if it is not the relays check for a tach sensor on the bottom of the block it may need replacing..all the best...buddy mack

A bicycle odometer was once a mechanical instrument that counts the number of turns of the wheels, and shows the total distance travelled. Nowadays, a bicycle computer does the same thing, but digitally, and showing more than simply distance travelled.

Amber light with a car on it on the dashboard of a peugeot 406 means that the fuel level is very low.

Soln: fill up fuel tank. Once the tank is filled the warning light clears out.

An odometer countr the number of turns. A bigger wheel has a longer circumference, so one turn equals a longer distance travelled. Change to bigger(diameter, not width) wheels and the odo (and the speedo too) will read low (= show less mileage/speed than actually travelled). Change to smaller (diameter, not width) and they will read high (show more mileage/speed than actually travelled).

The legality of replacing the odometer would be in question. I would take out the dash with the speedo and take it to a certified speedometer repair facility. Like stated before, I would buy a service manual or cd.

On the back of the cluster board there is a resistor that burns out. If you take the board off you can see the burn marks on it.

The 86-93 have a analog gauge.I am most certain older mazda trucks are the same.The speedometer is operated by a cable going into the back of the speedometer itself and feeds thru the firewall and goes down the inside fender weld and along the driver side frame rail where it will connect to the transmission. Then it will turn the cable inside operating the speedometer.As for the 94- up should be analog cable driven.If your speedometer is slow working removing the cable from the transmission and remove the dash cluster and disconnect and pull it out.Greasing the cable by spraying white lithium grease into the cable ends or pulling out the cable inside the housing and grease and reinstall.In short disconnect from trans 1st then at dash 2nd.Most issues are slow,jumpy and cable needs to be greased in most cases.Very seldom do the analog speedometers go bad(normally).

The instrument lights are mounted in the back of the instrument cluster. Bentley's says to take off the steering wheel to remove it but I found it wasn't nessecary if you are careful. Undo the metal finger bolts from behind the dash and take off the black plastic panel below it. Undo all the screws holding the cluster in ( there are 6 of them ) and then tip it face down. Unplug the three harnesses and other wires to it then slide it out toward the drivers side over the steering column. The bulbs are accessible from the back and oem ones are available from Pelican Parts.

It's not the rim diameter that's important, but the overall diameter of the rim + tire combo. If the overall diameter changes, your odo and your speedo will be off. Bigger diameter, they will read low. Smaller diameter and the'll read high.

But if you can go for a bigger rim, and a more low profile tire, then it's possible to ge the overall diameter to stay the same, and your gauges will still read true.

Your dash lights may be in need of replacement... Instrument Cluster Removal & Installation 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the cluster opening trim panel. 3. On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, remove the loop on the indicator cable assembly from the retainer pin. Remove the thumbwheel bracket screw from the cable bracket and slide the bracket out of the slot in the steering column tube. 4. Remove the instrumental cluster retaining bolts. 5. Pull the instrumental cluster out of the instrument panel. 6. Detach the electrical connectors. 7. Remove the instrument cluster. To install; 8. The installation is the reverse of the removal. 9. Connect the battery cable, and check the operation of all gauges, lights and signals. *** Turn the light bulb housing counter clock wise. Sometimes they are very hard to turn. Don't be afraid to turn them. ***

You don't as it does not have a cable. You replace the speed sensor instead.

Most likely because your speedometer cable is broken. If I find the guide for removing the instrument cluster, I'll post it here.

If a person recently changed the speed sensor in a 1990 Dodge B-250 Van and the trip meter and odometer do not work, there could be a fuse that needs to be replaced. The computer might also have to be reset to allow for the odometer and trip meter to work.

These are completely electronic. You may have a loose wire.

Did you check to make sure the speedo cable isn't broken. Disconnect both ends and twist the inner cable and look at the other end to see if it moves. It should move easily.

You can take a short cut and just disconnect the speedo end and have someone rotate the left wheel and you should be able to see the inner cable rotate.

The one on the left wheel is attached to the grease/bearing cover with a c-clip. Remove the c-clip then take the cover off (so you can reattach it) and it will just pull out of the hole on the axle side. The grease/bearing cover actually turns the cable as the end of the cable is square to fit in the cover hole that is square. Sometimes the hole will round out and the cable won't rotate with the cover.

Before I answer this question let me start by saying the bulb is not available from dealer or any auto parts store or any ordinary retail light store such as Radio Shack. I had to improvise by finding a bulb that fit in the bulb holder with wire leads that would work in a 12volt system.The bulb I used was from a surplus store with no identifying marks so I don't have part number.The dealer says they send out the dashes for rebuild units.So be prepared to search for a bulb.

The first step disconnect the battery then next remove the dashboard you will find most the screws are torx screws and two 10mm bolts located thru a opening in the glovebox.Once you remove the dashboard cover you will see the 2 wire connectors that connect to instrument cluster. Unplug the connectors then remove the torx screws that hold the fascia to the cluster. Then pull gently to remove fascia to gain access to instrument cluster. Remove the torx screws that hold the cluster and lift cluster out of dash panel. On back of cluster you will see a cover that is paper on one side and metal film on other side. Remove and you will see a few bulb sockets that look like to remove you turn them by hand. Well it is none of these bulbs you want.The bulb you want is removed with a small screw driver. the bulb has a slot form in the back for a flat blade screw driver. That is your bulb. Now you have to find a bulb that you can modify to fit that holder. When you get this far you will have a view of what I am talking about. Good Luck P.S. To install reverse removal procedures.

A 12 volt white mini Christmas light will work, although I am not sure how long it will last.

Seriously though:

1st the engine computer on modern cars will tell you the mileage if it is scanned by a dealer. So if the dash is swapped for a low mileage one you can tell.

2nd Each time a car is sold the mileage is documented by law so there are records.

3rd. It is almost impossible to change mileage anymore so it is unlikely

Either the trunk is open, or the trunk ajar switch has failed.
