I appreciate the input. Unfortunately, the mirror housing was broken off the base. I already had gotten a complete (fixture) replacement mirror. I ended up going to a body fender shop& good thing, because a layperson would never have figured out how to "sneak" a socket with a swivel extension into any minute orifice/opening at an extreme angle to access the mounting nuts. The "guts" inside the door panel that contain the window drive assembly had to be unbolted to create additional play/space. A small, flexible snake flashlight also was needed.
