What is better polyurethane or acrylic urethane car paint?
Beside the chemisty involved, probably the most important difference to you is that oil based paints require a solvent such as mineral spirits (paint thinner) for clean up while acrylic paints only require water. Generally, an acrylic or latex water based paint is going to be easier for you to work with.
Can you paint over a waxed finish?

Slop on some paint remover. Make sure the concrete is completely dry first so that the paint remover can have some time to work before getting wet. Let it sit for the recommended time then use the spray washer again. Answer Another option is sandblasting which is the method used in most municipalities to remove graffiti from bridges, buildings and so forth.
Also any paint brush cleaner will work (found at local handy store). This past weekend I was spray painting a picture frame and I got a large amount of silver spray paint on my drive way. I just poured it on the spots and scrubbed lightly with an old rag. Once pouring it on, you will immediately see it washing away. Once finished scrubbing, and the spray paint is all gone, just wash it all away with your hose. Make sure not to get any on your skin. Paint brush cleaner is equivalent to lighter fluid if in contact with skin. Paint brush cleaner will also catch on fire, so make sue not to have any flames around the area of cause.

How does electrostatic spray painting work?

electro...meanint electric. the paint particles are charged positively and the object being painted are negetively charged. opposites attract.
Why does paint smell long after paint job was finished?
Well it really depends on the type of paint. See there are paints that are low VOC (low Volatile Organic Compounds) these are the ingredients that cause paint to smell. More oil based paints tend to off gas "stink" while the VOC compounds are curing, thus the long lasting smell. Low VOC pains tend not to smell so bad because of the formulation of the paint, less compounds that need to cure during the drying process.
How long do you have to paint after primer?
The average tie between coats of paint is probably about two hours, but this can vary tremendously. Factors can include whether or not the area is ventilated, the temperature or humidity, and even the type of paint.
How do you take spray paint off of an aluminum trailer?

How do you repaint a steel security door?
You'll need to remove all rust, either sanding it off or use a sandblaster to remove all of the rust. Then, when all of the rusted metal is sanded or sandblasted clean, use 220 wet/dry sandpaper on any remaining paint to remove any glazing of the old paint. DO NOT ALLOW ANY LOOSE PAINT TO STAY ON THE METAL. Then, use an "etching primer" to stabilize any rust that you may have missed. Even if you get it pretty clean and can't see any rust, there will be some left behind that you will miss so the etching primer is pretty helpful. After it's primed, sand it smooth, making sure that you don't sand through to bare metal. Then spray it with a good quality oil based enamel or catalyzed paint, possibly even a high quality automotive grade paint.
Primer should not be used as a top coat on most surfaces. The purpose of primers is to give a good base or tooth for the top coat, this means it will attract dirt, fingerprints and such more readily than a good quality top coat. The only place a primer is sometimes used as a top coat is as a cheap ceiling paint.
Difference between pearlescent and iridescent paint?
Hi there I was looking for the answer to the same question and came across this. Pearlescent has teeny weeny glass beads added to the paint, this caused weird light refraction hence you get a multicoloured paint effect (depending on which angle you view it from). Metallic has teeny weeny bits of reflective "stuff" added to the paint, hence light bounces off the relective surface.
They also stated that pearlescent it is best used in lighter colours.
What type of paint is best for metal?
Any quality exterior paint. Do prime first however. Rustoleum makes a high visibility spray paint that might also be of interest to you. It can be purchased in the paint department of most Home Depots.
Can you clear coat over primer and not use a color coat when painting a vehicle?
Though it is possible to get clear coat to adhere to primer, there are a couple of reasons this is a bad idea. The first and foremost reason is that the primers main job is corrosion protection, coupled with a chemical and mechanical foundation coat for basecoat or color coat in a single stage system, it is not designed to be clear coated. The chemical bond between primer and clear coat would be very weak. Base coat paints have modifications in the resins to allow them to adhere to the primers, and still give the clear coat the proper foundation for it to adhere to, while flowing out in the wet look finish it is designed to have. Also, most of the primer jobs you see running around will have sun faded areas, as well as bleaching in short order. If you want the flat primer look, but have a job that will last, prime the vehicle, base coat it in the gray color you want, but clear coat it with one of the prepackage flat clear coats that are available. The resulting job looks like it is "just primer" but has all the chemical and physical protection of a traditional clear coat job, just not the gloss.
Can you spray lacquer paint over clear coat?
Yes but it will crack and turn brittle with wear. If you need to have some protection for the sneaker, try using a flexible arylic product like Deco-Art. It is a clear protective product commonly found in the craft section. An alternative is to Scotch Gard the sneaker. This will help keep the sneaker design cleaner longer.
It is usually the responsibility of the homeowner if a person pulls into a driveway and runs over a bicycle. The homeowner's insurance might also pay for this accident. It might be the driver's fault if the bicycle was not in the driveway at the time or the driver was drinking.
How should you 'break-in' a new car?
You should start off treating the engine very gently i.e. gentle revs and never more than 1/4 throttle. Over time you gradually use more revs and more throttle until you eventually end up using the full range of the engine. It is important to eventually end up using all the power and rev range to wear harden various parts. It is also important that you do not keep to a single continuous speed or gear but vary your speed quite a bit during this time (a long highway journey is NOT a good break in if you just sit in top gear at a continuous speed). This is because things are still hardening up and you can wear a groove into them.
Modern engines break in relatively quickly, often 1000km, older designs took longer as the tolerances were not as precise. The first oil change is often a lot sooner than later ones as during break in rough edges from manufacturing will be worn off and end up in the oil.
Here is more advice from various contributors:
To find the exact paint color for a 2004 F350 Powerstroke Diesel Crew Cab, the best way is to look up the paint code associated with the vehicle's VIN number. The VIN can be found on the driver's side of the vehicle, either on the dashboard or the doorjamb. With this information, you can use a color code lookup tool to find the exact paint color that matches your vehicle.
In addition to finding the exact paint color, it is important to use the right type of touch up paint to ensure a proper repair. Touch up paint is typically available in three different types: brush-in paint, pen-style paint, and aerosol spray paint. Brush-in paint is the most common type and is best for larger areas of damage, while pen-style and aerosol spray paint are better for small chips and scratches. When choosing a touch up paint, make sure to select one that is designed for automotive use and is an exact match for your vehicle's paint color.
