Peugeot 406

The heater motor on the Peugeot 306 is under the glove box, in the passenger footwell.

First, remove the sound proofing panel, this clips off. Inside you will see the fan assembly is offset towards the left side (towards the passenger door hinge). There are 3 screws which need to be remove, 2 of which are towards the front, near the 3 pin electrical block which supplied power to the heater blower motor.

Unscrew the 3 screws after removing the electrical connector. A sharp tug downwards will free the motor itself, and a little twisting and turning will remove it. You should be able to do this in about 10-20 minutes usually.

Replacing is simply the reverse of this. I would suggest that any replacement motor is tested before you fit it in, it takes only a few seconds to test and will save you time.

The fuse box diagram, for a Peugeot 206, can be found on the inside of the fuse box cover. Remove the fuse box cover and flip it over to reveal the diagram.

Turn ignition off press and hold mileometer reset button. Turn ignition on, Service timer starts countdown to zero, Turn ignition off, release reset button, Turn ignition back on. It should now have reset the service miles. This worked on a 306 try it, it might work on a 406. Hope this is of some help.

It depends on the reason why the belt snapped. It is not usual or likely that a belt already snaps after only 7500 miles, while they should do 80.000 miles or more. The reason can be that they have not had the tension right or that the rollers were not replaced or in line. That should be then the fault of the mechanic or garage. Go to a (another) dealer and let him make a report, back it up with photographs and complain at the garage who changed the belt. Succes

hi,had similar problem,had to unbolt both sides of back of rear seat,to give better angle & gently pull it out, once fixed b4 putting seat down again,pull seat belt out & knot it,which will prevent it happening again

At around 55000 unless car is used for stop/start mainly then it's around 40000.Peugeot also recommend the double pulley on the crankshaft to be changed at the same time.Mine was done in France and cost me 850 euros 6 months ago,in England I would guess it would be cheaper,my garage charged 45 euros an hour,and the job took about 4 hours,the pulley was billed at 245 euros.The old one was in fact breaking up and had it gone it would have taken the cam belt and auxiliary belt with it,so don't take a chance if you are doubtful.Len Morgan

the fuel filter is located under the car,at the right side under the rear passenger door.

My 406 has been doing the same. My solution is to just spray wd40 into the lock. Works everytime. After a few months it starts again so just keep repeating the process.

Nearly any car is fair game for siphoning gas. The only stipulation is that the car needs gas in the gas tank, or it canâ??t be siphoned.

at the front, under the throtal body housing..... there are wires conected to the back of it, one of them is your live... (please note You MUST dissconect the battery before removing the starter)

Ok if its the one with a line of small type boxes in a line that comes on for a few secs just when you turn on the ignition, its the engine oil level. but please keep checking the dipstick as usual.

Amber light with a car on it on the dashboard of a peugeot 406 means that the fuel level is very low.

Soln: fill up fuel tank. Once the tank is filled the warning light clears out.

Looking at the front of the engine, on the left hand side at the top is the power steering pump. Directly below that is the alternator and directly below the alternator is the compressor. AEasiest to get to from below.

if you open the hood there is an aluminum plate on the front right, which tells exact the weight of the car.

It depends on car's structure (coupe, saloon, station) and the engine on it (1.6,1.8,2.0,3.2)

+ you must consider what changes had became to that car (ex remove steel wheels and place aluminum, car audio inside etc)

usual way, take the stone guard off from underneath the engine compartment locate the sump plug ( mounted vertically at rear of sump, hex key). position suitable container ready to catch the oil. back up into the engine bay and take off the filler cap for the engine oil then undo the sump plug ( wear gloves and catch the thing before it goes swimming). the oil filter is located under that black plastic bell housing on front of the engine block. its basically a paper filter that is protected by the bell housing. When all the oil has drained put a big adjustable on it and remove. new filter comes with a new rubber o ring for the bell housing replace that as well .Put everything back in reverse and top up the oil.
