loosen the tension bracket (13mm) then loosen off the tension

remove the negative lead from battery, then starter and main lead off alt

remove belt, and tension bolt

one bolt left at top, think it's a 45 torx.....

to replace, just do the reverse

u cud buy my 309 diesel 4 150 and swap my engine into yours

The 306 is a better option but neither will go straight in as the power steering pump will want to be where the radiator is.

Try disconnecting from the battery the neutral cable for approx 11 minutes. Akhtar

First you need to find the spark plugs! No, really! I have tinkered with engines on several cars, but I cannot see the plugs or leads on my 406. I haven't looked too hard, just a cursory glance whilst checking the oil level, etc. Are they hidden under a cover somewhere? If anyone can shed some light, I would be obliged. Thanks. Answer; They are located within a single bar located beneath the rocker cover. 1) Remove the silver rocker cover, 8 turn screws 2) you will see the spark ber beneath held down by 3 x 5mm bolts 3) Undo the 3 bolts an lift the bar off, there will be 4 rubber cups that connect to the top of the sparkplugs, you will see the plugs located within tubes, so a long wrench is required. Its not as fiddly or difficult as it may sound, just done mine and with the right tools will take approx 15 or 20 minutes to do..

It is usually bad connections under both seats a common problem usually cured by snipping off the connectors and soldering the wires together make sure you connect the correct wires together ,.Make sure you disconnect the battery and leave for an hour before starting work or the airbag will detonate when fiddling with the wires.also if its a D8 406 make sure you know your radio code as it will need resetting

Remove driver side wheel and wheel arch remove the old one first and fit the new one.

If you have 1 key: Switch on the ignition, press the large keyfob twice within 10 seconds. If you have 2 keys: You will need to check which is primary and which is secondary, open the keys and there should be a small label inside with either PRIM or SEC. Switch on the ignition and press the large button on the primary keyfob first, then the secondary within 10 seconds. NB: Some models require the battery to be removed from the keyfob for a minute before recoding. The above worked fine for my 2000 (W) Pug 406 HDi

Manufactuer says every 100000 miles, although leaving it this long would be risking it a bit.

If you had run out of fuel and just refilled, then you need to put your ignition on and wait for the electric fuel pump to reprime. In some old cars you actually have to crank the engine to get the fuel flowing.

Chock the opposite side wheels.

Jack up one wheel only.

Take the road wheel off.

Undo the lid of the brake reservoir.

Undo the bolts holding the calliper.

Tie the calliper up on the suspension leg taking care not to bend the pipe.

Remove the rotor (disc) and replace with a new one as the old one will be under size due to normal wear.

Tighten bolts to required toque.

Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir lid but do not remove to keep out dirt etc.

Unplug wear indicator lead if fitted.

Untie the calliper from the suspension.

Remove anti rattle retaining springs and slide out old pads.

Compress piston full back - keeping an eye on the brake fluid level in the reservoir. If it is getting over full remove excess fluid with a clean syringe and dispose of fluid in accordance with local regulations.

Fit the new pads and new anti rattle springs.

Plug in wear indicator leads if fitted.

Slide calliper with new pads fitted over the rotor into place.

Put some copper grease on the calliper bolts and do up to the correct torque.

Refit road wheel and lower the car to the ground.

Repeat for the remaining calliper/s.

When completing last brake check reservoir fluid level to ensure it is correct then tighten lid.

Hint : Only dismantle one calliper at a time as you can then use the other one as a reference should something go amiss.

Easiest way is to remove the whole tail trim (un screw the handle) then pry the rest out, then unbolt the light cluster, (from memory 2 bolts), disconnect the wiring, change bulb and its the complete reverse putting it all back together.

Its at front near the intercooler where the pipe goes in the top of the intercooler it should be a denso sensor unless its been changed for an aftermarket one hope this helps

Take off the cover/panel on the side of the boot next to where the rear lights are. Inside this you will see that the light unit is held in place by a plastic wing nut. Undo this fully. You can then push/pull out the rear light unit although it is held on relatively short wires. There are plastic clips on either side of the light unit and if you release these the cover comes off, leaving the two bulbs exposed. Change bulb, check it works and reverse procedure to finish

Total Fluid DA, available at your peugeot dealer, anything else will cause problems

Pin the top tension idler pully..take the front wheel off...the bottom idler pully is on an excentric...loosen same....belt goes slack.... put new belt on,set the excentric as tight as possible.. remove the pin in the top tension idler pully belt should be tight after doing this... happy days

307 2.0ltr Hdi 110. Behind the engine above the rear gearbox mount and osf driveshaft intermediate bearing block. It is possible to remove from below but is not easy. Owing to 1. Off side drive shaft removal 2. Cat and DPF removal 3. Battery removal, to gain access to gearbox mount to lower engine to remove steady and brackets. 4. Remove top and bottom turbo stays 5. Remove oil feed (be careful not to lose the small filter in the pipe) and return pipes. 6. Remove three 11mm turbo nuts 7. Pull bottom of engine forward this give just enough room to remove turbo. Owing to the careful selection of bolt that are too long, battery tray secured by all bolts from engine compartment except one from under n/s inner wing. It is a vert time consuming job. Took two days. I hope this helps

The bonnet, (hood) release catch on my 98 406 GLX is on the drivers side (UK) under dash on right hand side wall. Pull hook type lever, when bonnet has released find lever on front of grill to the right of Peugeot emblem and lift up.

Depends on what years the car and van are on but the majority of peugeot hdi's used the same block and heads and all had the RHY engine code (also knows as dw10td engines). If the codes on the engines tally then yes it should.
