i would start off by checking under the carlet in the boot, if not take a look under the rear off the car and it may be ther if not your screwed unless its in the ashtray

ring on drive shaft with senser next to it. usual fault! cracked by rust ring on drive shaft. change shaft.

im sure theres a bit in the hand book about this have a look good luck switch off ignition, press & holdbutton below temp gauge,swith on ignition, display begins 10 second countdown, keep button pressed for 10 seconds. display will show =0 service symbol disappears

Should be behind the plastic cap next to the headlight height regulating switch. I FOUND ONE CONNECTOR BESIDE THE FUSE BOX IS THIS OBDII CONNECTION AREA?

Try the light switch

Depending on the model Peugeot 406 you have it is either in the blower motor housing itself which is behind the glove box beneath the dashboard on the passenger side of the car or it is the trunking to the right of the blower motor. In the latter case if you look under the dash on the floor to the right of where the passengers right foot would normally go (if you see what I mean) you will see a black box with 2 green connectors - 1 small and 1 large. Undo the single screw and pull the unit downwards to free it.

Hi, I have Peugeot 406 2002 model 2.0 Litres. I had the same problem! both snow & sport mode lights were flashing occaissionally my bad luck i ignored it as it was not interfering in my driving once i turn off the engine it use to go away! But just last week all of a sudden the gear oil leaked by the time i noticed it was too late!!! the gear box is gone! now the company says i need to replace the gear box which will cost around 5000$.

I don't know what to do? if i add 3000$ more can get a same model car in used car market. :(((

hi, last days i had the same thing in my 406/2004 and to solve the problem you have only to remove the computer sockets located to the right side and above the engine and try to clean the sockets and to make sure that the clearance (male & female) are tide

Yes you can bypass the immobilizer by keying in your current PIN followed by "C1C" on the keypad. This will allow you to start the car after unlocking with immobilizer and you only have 1 minute to start the car. To revert back to manual entry, just key in "C0C".

Remove off side front wheel, behind the wheel is a flexible water cover secured by 2 nuts on the top and 2 on each side, and 1 screw underneath. Remove this cover and the fan belts are accesible

I have the same car, so this question is easy. First locate car battery on right hand side of car (as standing with bonnet open at front of the car ). Then just behind it there is a metel bracket with a Glow plug heater relay box attached to this bracket ( slide fit , held in place with one screw). The relay is under neath the main area of the metal bracket ,and attached to two wires - unscrew the nuts, and one connector pin block (either 5 pin or 6 pin deppending on model) unclip. If your 406 is the 5 pin relay you have mk1 series 406 . If the relay is 6 pin , you have a mk2 406. Hope this helps herbie44

Same problem. My speedometer sometimes works, sometimes it stops for days and than pops back. It can even start and stop several times on a small trip. there is also a speed sensor located in the rear of glove box witch is not difficult to replace and this will cure the problem this sensor can be got at a local scrap yard for very little money

This is probably caused because your cruise control switch under the brake pedal is not connected properly. You need to get your head in the footwell and look upwards; you will be able to make out a red switch (Brake lights) and a white switch (cruise control) above the brake pedal (follow the long metal stalk upwards until you see the switches. You need to push the white switch towrads the front of the car, so there will be a connection, allowing the cruise control to work. Do not push it too far though, otherwise the cruise control won't disable when you press the brake pedal (when your driving along). You will do best using a long, thin flat headed screwdriver to move the switches around. A pocket torch is very handy, also some cushions/rugs draped over the door sill will ease the pain (You will see what I mean!!!). To change the key cylinder on Chevy Celebrities and many other GM cars:

Remove the steering wheel.

Using a lock plate depressor remove the circlip that holds the lock plate down and remove it.

Remove the spring and turn signal cam. Make note on where all of the parts go so you will be able to put them back.

Remove the hazard light switch from the turn signal switch,

Remove the turn signal switch.

Pull out the buzzer contacts. Observe carefully how it goes in so it can be put back.

There will be a screw holding the lock cylinder in. It is often a torx screw and sometimes an Allen screw.

At this point the cylinder assembly should pull straight out.

Reverse this procedure to put the new cylinder in and reassemble the rest of the parts.
