The Fiero V6 2.8L engine produced a peak-corrected horsepower of 110 at 4500 rpm, significantly lower than the advertised 125hp. per dyno-testing of a stock 2m6.

The Fiero 4-cyl 2.5L engine produced a peak-corrected horsepower of 85 at 4500 rpm, significantly lower than the advertised 92hp. per dyno-testing of a stock 2m4.

Addition of turbo/superchargers has increased effective horsepower up to 30% without compromising engine integrity.

It uses a screw on filter so it should be visible screwed into the engine block. Some 1986 Fieros used a filter mounted in the oil pan, so look there in case you have one where the engine has been replaced. If you find it has the screw on filter then use a longer AC/Delco PF51 oil filter to increase oil capacity slightly. Add enough extra oil to compensate for the longer filter.

Not overly familiar w/vehicle, but I assume it's at the engine end of the upper radiator hose in a housing that is secured by 2 or 3 bolts. Drain about a gallon of coolant from radiator when engine is cool remove these bolts and observe hoe thermostat is mounted Clean both surfaces Install new gasket and thermostat Start engine --refill coolant slowly to prevent "airlock" and observe for leak. Run engine with heater on to normal operating temperature and top off radiator. Fiero engines have a thermostat that is easily removable from a "radiator" cap in the engine compartment. There's no unbolting or resealing necessary.

Depending on the year there is no glove box other then the front and side pockets the closest there is to a glove box is the back trunk which is also smaller in size

NO They are old and therefore not as reliable or cheap to fix. also they are not a beginner car. Pre-88 models had handling issues which might not be a good idea for a new driver.

The fuel tank is removed from under the car and stands 18 or so inches tall.

If it is mostly empty it is easily handled.

The fuel sender and pump assembly goes in the top of the tank.

The instructions with the replacement part are good from the point of having the tank on the shop floor.

Yes. Cradles were all the same till 88.

There is no fuel reset button on a Fiero. Not electrical or mechanical.

All fieros have an electrical fuel pump located in the fuel tank.

The fuel pump will run when you first turn the key to start. It will run for 10 seconds. After that time the fuel pump will continue to run only if the oil pressure switch shows the engine has oil pressure (ie, the engine is running). You should be able to hear the fuel pump relay click (located on the firewall behind the driver) and the fuel pump run, by just turning the key to the on position.

This requires a special adaptor plate as the patterns are different.

It is no big deal though, you need the extra room to fit the clutch/flywheel in.

There are two main sources for these parts. Both companies are easily search-able using Google

Poor oil control and overheating on the 2.5L caused the fires.

Use the trunk popper switch! If this switch does not work then use needle-nose pliers or a paper clip to momentarily touch the two pins on the switch's connector which are vertically adjacent to each other. If there is a dead or missing battery then a very long flat tip screwdriver can be used to manually turn the latching mechanism which the lock normally does.

P.S if that does not work beat the living crap out of the lock, they are very tough so expect a long fight

you need to replace the stop solenoid on the top of the fuel pump if it is a lucas pump. I had the same problem, but they are are fantastic price, ie £72 plus vat from main dealer, so shop around or get one from a breakers. mine started without having to bleed the system, but you might have to. do it quick and it should be ok, be careful not to get the threads crossed it is fiddly. Jack the car up in the rear and pull off the passenger side rear wheel. you will be able to see the slider that the alternator is mounted on. remove that bolt and clawl under the car to remove the top bolt from the alternator. the reason for this is that the alternator has to come out of the bottom of the car. you will want to be under the car to catch the alternator when it come loose. repeat steps in reverse to put alternator back on. use a bar to put tention on the alternator to get the proper tention on the belt.

Hi there depending on what car you have,,, you can get thru the truck arear by folding down a rear sear,, or removing the seat,, then when you can get in the trunk area, you can unbolt the latch on the truck lid and it will open.

There are many brake conversions available for '84-'87 Fieros. The grand am conversion isn't too difficult as I've completed it on my 86GT. The rears are pretty much direct bolt on, while the front requires some work at a machine shop to cut down the rotor/hub in order to mount the grand am rotors. I used 4 Front grand am rotors and calipers, and I changed the master cylinder to that of a 4x4 blazer. Visit www.fiero.nl for a wealth of Fiero information- it's pretty much the largest online Fiero community. West Coast Fiero also has a lot of information on brake conversion, and they sell complete kits.

However, from my experience they are overpriced and their shipping time takes about 3 to 5 times longer than they'll tell you through email/phone calls.

What is the transmission size? The Buick 3.8 's were used GM wide, and bolted up to TH200's, some 200r4's, and I believe TH350's could bolt up as well. Chevrolet trannys will not bolt up- their pattern is different.

You'll need to remove the upper engine mount (dogbone). Then, with ajack under the rear of the cradle,you can unbolt the tworear cradle bolts (18mm) and lower the cradle down to get access to the front of the engine. From there it is simply unbolting the two bolts that hold the coolant crossover pipe and removing the hoses.

Nope, but it does have great crash test ratings without them

The O2 sensor is in the down tube just in front of the transmission on the drivers side.

I have changed it from the top, Trust me, it's worth jacking the car up and replacing from below.

The adjustments are pretty obvious on the the top of the transmission under the air intake and exhaust plumbing.
