How do you replace muffler on 1986 fiero Pontiac GT?
This is a pain in the butt Job.
The Original system is all welded 1 piece.
So Slide under the car and figure out what parts you need.
Usually the tail pipes, muffler and Catalitic converter to Muffler are all sold seperatly.
Now you need a saw, I use a Construction saw with metal blade, a hack saw will do but its tough work, If you have a cutting torch that makes it easy.
You can, in this order: Disconect Pipe a Catalitic convereter, Suport system at tail pipes and toward catalitic converter. Disconect all suport points usually by undoing or cutting clamps.
Drop the whole mess on the ground and drag it out from under the car.
Cut the pipes as close to the muffler as possible.
Test fit all new and old parts together triming and determineing what additional clamps and such you need. DO NOT TIGHTEN ANYTHING!
Slide the pile of parts under the car, test fit everything. At this point you need blocks of wood etc to suport the system in place.
Hangers First tighten and align everything as you go.
Allow a whole Sunday or Saturday, its time consuming but not particuallarly dificult.
What type of freon does a 1988 fiero gt take?
R-12 which is hard to find and very expensive. R-12 contained CFC which the EPA now bans. I would suggest a professional conversion to R-134a. Do it yourself conversion kits are available at most auto parts stores. But you need to make sure all R-12 and moisture is removed from the system for best performance.

Where is the fan relay located on a 1984 Pontiac Fiero SE?
any where i look on my 87 even in all data it said it was located in the back on the left hand side but it was not there. so i traced the wires to the fan motor and found the relay to be in front of the drivers side head light with very little hand room. Answer On my 84 it is under the driver's side headlight and if you have AC it will be a two speed fan system. If this is the case then the relay will be about 1.5 by 3.5 in and about 2in thick and have 5 or 6 wires on it in a single line. If it's bad then good luck finding one I never did for mine so I made one out of 2 single pole relays. If you would like the diagram and how to make one email me a100rinchhead@yahoo.com subject fan relay it only takes about 10 min to build and installs with out having to cut any wires.
Why doesn't the Temperature gauge in my 86 Fiero GT work?
Could be a bad temperature sending unit or a bad gauge the fiero was wired wrong from the factory when you turn the key all the dummy lights should com on but they dont (over heating light) in stead the temp guage seings to the right fiercely and normally breaks off after thousands of miles on the net there ius a way to rewire this take the plug off the temperature switch and run a wire from the plug to ground and with your key in the on position your gauge should go all the way hot. if it does then your switch is bad replace it. if it doesn't then it may be the wiring or the gauge.

Where can you find a vacuum line diagram for a 1987 Pontiac Fiero 2.8 liter V6 engine?

How do you repair a headlight motor for a 1988 Pontiac Fiero?
There are repair pieces and kits available from The Fiero store.
There are also repair kits for specific problems (bushings etc) available from several sellers on E bay
Basically remove Assembly from car, remove motor from assembly, drill out rivets, replace faulty parts, bolt back together with supplied bolts and nuts.
When the car just stops won't changes gears what does that mean?
If it is a Manual shift, you more than likely have a broken clutch or clutch linkage. If it is an A/T you have transmission problems.

How do you open the trunk on a 1985 Pontiac fiero to get to the engine?
Button on your dash, or the key that opens your door. If those don't work you're gonna have to start breaking stuff.
Where is the fuel pump relay located on a 1985 Pontiac Fiero?
On the front fire wall of the engine compartment to the left of the drives side deck lid hinge mount.
If the car is equipped with Air conditioning at relay will be right beside it.
Does a 1986 Pontiac Fiero gt cost more to insure than a Fiero Coupe or SE?
I have owned two four cylinder Fieros, currently own an '86 GT and a '88 Formula and they have all been exactly the same rate to insure. Most insurance companies, because the Fiero is so old, will simply give you a rate based on it being a Fiero and not typically look at colors or engine options.

Why does transmission lock up does not work on a Pontiac fiero?
There is a 4-wire plug on the transmission. It is on the drivers side and toward the front of the car. You can probably see it near the oxygen sensor. It is easier to get to if you remove the air cleaner tube. If this connector is not plugged in, then the Torque Converter Lockup feature will not work. You can also trace these wires back to the ECM to see if you can find a short or open in the circuit. Matt Howard
What engines were orignally available in the Pontiac fiero?
