What happened to the Pontiac Firebirds and when will Pontiac continue making the Firebird?
What happened to Firebirds is that they were outsold by Ford Mustangs and didn't give Pontiac a big enough market share in the segment. In other words, the bean-counters killed it. It will come back when someone comes up with a concept that they can convince Pontiac management will make money. In the mean time, check out the GTO, or the soon to be introduced Solstice to get your Pontiac "excitement" fix. Darkfriend adds:
They quit making them in 2002, along with the ever popular Camaro. The Camaro has been reintroduced in 2010 and has some characteristics of both Camaro and Firebird. The Firebird will likely never make a comeback.
***I AM NO MECHANIC***, but I am the owner of a 1998 Pontiac Firebird myself, and this is what I might speculate: It sounds like a possible dead battery which- if not caught/determined quickly enough -may have inadvertently killed the alternator. That or the third possibility is a dead starter motor (about $400 shop repair).
WHAT I MIGHT SUGGEST/THE CHEAPEST THING TO TRY: Cleaning off the battery terminals with a brush. Disconnect the negative & positive cables, looking for white powdery corrosion. Sometimes corrosion will keep the battery from kick starting the engine.
Where can you find the tune up specifications for a 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 8 cylinder engine?

Does engine have to be dropped to replace oil pan gasket on a 1994 Firebird?
Not at all, simply remove the hex nuts holding the oil pan to the engine (drain oil beforehand obviously), and after removing the nuts, you're good to go. Just scrap the old gasket off the engine block and oil pan, place the new one on, allow sealer to cure and reinstall the pan.
How low does the oil have to be before the 'low oil' light comes on in a 96 firebird?
It has to be about 2 qts. low for the light to come on.
The saying used to be " there is no replacement for displacement" meaning the best way to make power was a bigger cubic inch block. This is now changing with the introduction of single and dual turbo-charged engines. It is now possible to make big power with a six cylinder engine. So, to try and answer your question, It depends on your usage for the vehicle... a mini van? Six works great. A '68 Firebird or performance (muscle) car... go eight. A late model street car... If it came with a six, you are going to have a hard time at the inspection/emissions station if you install a 8 where a six is supposed to be.

V8 IS A BETTER PULL AND NICE BUT IF YOUR LOOKING TO BUY FOR A LESS GAS FOR EXAMPLE IF YOUR BUYING V8 4.7 AND A V6 OF 4.0 ITS ALMOST NO DIFFERENCE ON MILES PER GALLON IF THEY ARE SAME PRICE ITS V8,WHAT I MEAN IS THE LITER IS THE KEY FOR SAVING GAS.BUT IF NOT WORRY ABOUT GAS V8.
Vss refers to negative supply voltage in electronics. They are mostly used in FETS and MOSFETs in common circuit configurations.
The circuit requires the hi/lo switch. You'll need to get a replacement switch for everything to complete the headlamp circuitry.
Check gauges in 2000 Pontiac firebird?
it means you need to cheak all the liquids in the car because the are low... like the coolant, oil, transmition fluid, break fluid, windsheild washer fluid, power steering fluid.
How do you replace a heater core in a 1986 Pontiac Firebird?
I had to replace my heater core on a 1991 GTA. It took me about 6 hours, and then some. You have to remove the entire dash cover, drop the steering colum (sp). etc.
It is located on the passenger side firewall. It is pretty easy to replace, it is just hard to get to it!
Take your time, and just keep removing the dash until you reach it. You will probably bust a knuckle or two, but it can be done. Good luck.
Will a 454 Chevy motor fit in a 1967 Pontiac firebird?

What would it cost to have a blown head gasket fixed on a 1997 Pontiac firebird v-6?
Its gonna cost alot.
Your better off putting a new engine in..
It happened to me and i used Steel Seal...Its cost is exorbitant but its well worth it..for the fix..
Get the necessary amount of steel seal and put it in your radiator..No thermostat to take out...And if it doesnt work they will send you more or refund your money..
I cant say enough about the generosity of this manufacturer.
Pour it in and hold the car at an idle of 1000 rpm's for an hour exactly .
The check gauge light keeps coming on 1998 mountaineer?
Your fuel is low. Its telling you to check your gas gauge...
What could be the problem with an 1986 Firebird that will not start?

Why does your car feel like the back tires are sliding?
Check your tread. Most of the time low tread will do that. Your car's tires dont have to be bald to start sliding. If you used any cleaner on your tread, that could be the issue too. I put black cleaner to make the tires look brand new, and that was a bad mistake. I had to end up getting new tires because they were so treacherous in rain. Take it to a local garage, but only if you trust them. The phrase "My back tires are sliding" sounds like Cha-Ching! to them.
Good luck, and God bless!
How fast can a 1997 Pontiac trans am go from zero to sixty?
between 5.5-6.0 seconds depending on gearing, trans and condition.
How would you know if you have a vacuum leak?
first symptom of a vacuum leak would be a shaky idle also a trained ear will listen for a hiss around a vacuum hose also the engine miss usually goes away as engine rpm is increased.find the cylinder that does not changethe way the car runs by pulling spark plug wires off one atr a time with insulated ignition pliers if you have seven cylinders that are strong and one that barley changes idle when you pull spark to that cylinder chances are there is a vacuum lek to the weak cylinder.follow any vacuum hose that lead to the wek cylinder spray carb cleaner on intake manifold gasketr while engine running. if engine smoothes out while spraying gaskets, air is probally entering causing that cylinders fuel ratio to be lean. also egr valves are known to cause intrernal vacuum leaks. a good tech should finbd it in 15 minutes
Does my 96 firebird have carrier bearings in the driveshaft?
It could have a carrier bearing but its pretty rare. I have a 96 firebird and it definitely has a split driveshaft. It is so rare that when my carrier bearing went bad, none of the part stores could even get a parts number to order one. So the car still sits. You will have to look at your driveshaft. If it's solid front to back it does not have a carrier bearing. If it looks like 2 shorter driveshafts that meet in the center of the car, then yes it would have a carrier bearing.
