it depends on what your looking to do and spend on it. i also got a 1997 trans am. and for the past two years been thinking the same thing. this summer im gonna spend about 700.00 on it. with a couple simple bolt ons, too give me about 40-50 extra horse. starting with a throttle body bypass kit, eBay 7.00. 5-6 hrp. k&n air filter. 58mm throttle body. new intake elbow. either new mass air flow sensor or just new ends havent decided yet, aftermarket maf of course. don't forget to swicth to sythetic gear, tranny, and oil oils, youll pick up a nice cheap easy 3-5 hrp. then ill probably get a good computer tuning. im also going with msd ignition set up, wires, blaster coil, and optispark. an other inexpensive way to add a good 10-15 hrp, is to get an electric water pump.

you could also go the route of getting a new exhaust system, ill be going with either edlebrock headers or slp, as for exhaust ill be going with a borla catback. you could go a little cheaper and get magna flow, they make a decent exhaust. make sure when you purchase these items there made for 95-97 as 93 and 94 wont work without modification.

you could just go to engine, quickiest boost easy is supercharger or turbo, also 383 kits if you get 383 and planning on putting in charger or turbo, get forged crank rods and pistons, for otherwise your running risk of blowing something, and make sure the kit is compression friendly with charger or turbo. ill be going with a 383 kit. with lt4 cnc machined and ported heads, with the lt4 intake get that ported out as well, then get a spunky cam kit probably from comp cams. id just get the lt4 kit but not enough bang for buck. the cam isn't much larger than the lt1, which is why im going with lt4 heads and intake but different cam. than after this type of work ill be getting a fuel pump, fuel regulator and bigger injecters.with this settup ill be running an easy 500hrp. without ever touching nos or charger or turbo. of course ill make charger friendly so im able to do that if i choose. these are a few ideas. don't forget suspension and drivetrian if you ever plan on having big hrp.

pop the hood and take the bolt and nut off the linkage up by the firewall. then pull your carpet back on the floor board and undo the four bolts at the bottom of the steering column. then undo the bolts directly under the steering column and disconnect the ignition switch and all electricals of the columnm then pull it out.

It depends on what type of fuel injection it is. If it's Tuned Port Injection (which it should be for a Trans Am), then it's 205 HP.

Most manufacturers and synthetic oil companies recommend 7500 maintenence intervals with synthetic oil. However, not all "synthetic" oils are true synthetics so be aware of what type/brand of oil you are using.

With great difficulty. Raise the light, remove the black plastic trim piece, remove the headlight bezel then remove and unplug the headlight. The housing/motor assy is held in by four screws but the lower two are blocked by either the windshield washer or colling water reservoir bottle (depending on side). The difficult part is that the car is build like a Chinese puzzle and you might have to remove a bunch of other stuff off to get the coolant reservoir off (I haven't actually done the other side and I hope not to). You need a cherry picker with a leveler bar to be able to take the engine and tranny out in one piece.

You can actually fit your arm in the holes directly under your turning signal. Just reach in and you will feel the connector just press down the little locking piece and give it a 1/4 turn and it will pull out of the plastic housing then just change bulbs and turn it back into the housing

I'm sorry to break the news to you, but the Pontiac Trans Am are no longer in production, and the last production was in 2002 with their last model. I myself would've loved to seen what they thought of to make a 2010 Pontiac Trans Am, especially since the camaro is close to comparison and the new 2010 Camaro are definitely "sweet." GM was able to come out with the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, but the discontinuance of Pontiac is the reason there will be no 5th generation of Firebirds/Trans Am. Their 30th anniversary model was in 1999 which came with two blue strips which was thought of from the 1969 Trans Am, the 1999 version also came with side graphics. In 2002, the last of the Trans Am model which was considered the "Collectors Edition" was painted yellow, usually a WS6, with the Ram Air package included, black pacer strips and black rims, a very BEAUTIFUL car. I currently have a 2000 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible V8 with the LS1 Corvette C5 engine. White car, black top. I've had my car for 10 years now. Average 13,000 miles a year. My car has performed beautifully. I've been in many drag races with many different cars even trucks. Never a corvette but would love too, have to admit, the WS6 has won against mine, which still regardless it wasn't my car, makes me proud.

Its an inline use (in the wiring) that goes to the motor behind the panel.

From the factory it should be equipped with a Rochester Q-Jet.
