How much mashed potato for sixty?

A quick rule of thumb that has served me well: one pound per person. For sixty people, that's sixty pounds.

If you are mashing red skins or Yukon golds, figure about a pound per person. There will be extras, but not as many as you would expect.

If you use the recipe below, I can pretty much guarantee there won't be much left over.

Super Mashed Potatoes: Serves six5 lbs.peeled, diced potatoes
Sea salt
one 16 oz tub sour cream
one stick of butter (real butter, salted or unsalted)
Milk

Boil the potatoes in a large stock pot. to the cold water add 1/4 to 1/2 cup sea salt. Immediately after potatoes cook to very soft, drain the water and pour into a warmed mixing bowl over the stick of butter. Mash with a potato masher or the beaters of a mixer. Add half the tub of sour cream. Mix to blend. The mixture should be very stiff and appear lumpy still. Add the remaining sour cream until the mixture begins to smooth. If still too thick, add milk in small amounts to thin.

I typically mix white, red, and gold potatoes for this.

A soft potato with eyes is an old potato, they can still be eaten.

Why are small space objects often potato shaped and large space objects usually rounded?

Small space objects clump together from many different directions giving it a odd shape. once the object gets enough mass, the gravity starts forcing the object into a ball. For example space dust kept on connecting (when in orbit around the sun) until the mass was large enough to force the space dust ( which by then was basically rock) into a large uninhabitable ball which after pulling gasses in to form an atmosphere, turned into what we call now earth.

It is only illegal if you kill or injure the deer when it's not in season and/or without the proper tags and licence. Most potato guns have the potential to injure a deer, and if it does, you may receive a nasty fine from the game warden. It is not illegal if the deer remains unharmed however.

What causes brown clothes towels sheets etc to have weird faded tan spots after laundering?

  • Stains can change the color.
  • Poorly made material can have flaws.
  • The manufacturing process can cause threads to hold difference levels of dye, resulting in uneven dying.
  • Inadvertant contact with bleach solutions. I have a number of shirts and pants with light spots because they were sitting on the floor to be washed near the washing machine and bleach was splashed out of the open machine while it filled.
  • Some detergents are not good for colored materials, or may cause stains if put directly on the clothes rather than in the water.

The number one reason for stains on bath towels is Clearasil. The active ingredient in acne medications will bleach out towels. Even if you have washed your hands first!! Get a white towel for your face so this doesn't happen.
