Poverty is a social phenomenon wherein section of society is unable to fulfill even its basic necessities of life. In India , the poverty line is defined on the basis of calorie intake.

Probably due to their relatively low level on the income scale.

Turkey as a State does not care about the poor or the homeless.They are left out to die if their families dont take care of them. Often their families are too poor so they do odd jobs here and there to get food and sleep rough.If they are young they often turn to prostitution. There is no hope for most of them and eventually the cold or malnutrition gets them and most die a miserable and lonely death.

Grameen Bank makes microloans in areas of extremely low income to foster entrepreneurship and, most notably, to help people bring themselves out of poverty.

Grameen Bank considers groups of people with commercially viable skills (e.g., baker, carpenter, etc.) for loans and goes through a long process to determine (1) who gets the initial loan, (2) how much that loan will be, and (3) the follow-up lending opportunity.

The usual steps include the following:

* Contacting a Grameen Bank Branch and establishing the state of poverty in your hometown/village/etc

* Working with a Grameen Banker to better understand what your group wants to do and determine the commercial viability given market circumstances

* Go through a one-day course/seminar to better understand the 16 decisions and how those must factor into obtaining a successful loan

* Fill out application and take tests of knowledge

* One or more in your group may be awarded the first microloan and terms/conditions will be specific to the situation

* Demonstrate success with the loan by paying the loan off completely, providing the other members of the group with an opportunity to get a loan as well

The north south devide is a line that seperates the 'rice north' and the 'poor south'

The countrys in the poor south are lesser economicly developed countries (LEDC) and the countries in the rich north are the more economicly developed countries (MEDC)

Poverty is clearly a huge problem for the planet. However, I don't think that we know yet if poverty directly causes terrorism. Few terrorists seem to be poor; on the contrary, terrorists themselves seem to be well-educated and middle class. Indeed, to quote Susan Rice, "if poverty spawns terrorism, there should be a lot more terrorism in the world." In fact, for the first time in a very long time, not only is the percentage of poor people in the total world population falling, the sheer number of poor people is actually falling, thanks to the best ever policy performance on average by developing countries. But terrorist attacks don't seem to be declining.

A welfare state.

They are built by people that need shelter but have no money to purchase either land or proper building materials.

Poverty has always been in Africa it all depends on how the seasons operate However the horrible crushing poverty that seems to be a feature of many places in Africa is the result of the colonialist occupations that the African country's had to endure. the western world threw the native way of life into caos. then when they were forced to leave the poverty became even worse as a result of the greed of the western world's not accepting responsibility for the damage they did. The root of the poverty that exists in Africa and in many other country's through out the world Started around 3 to 4 hundred years ago.

Mother Teresa meant poverty of heart,the lackadaisical attitude of the people towards poor and down trodden of the society. She gave us the teaching that it is a privilege and a joy to be able to serve the poor. They are very beautiful and have much to give us. We should thank God for giving us the opportunity to serve our fellowmen who live and die in poverty and hunger.

In liberal theory they tell the poor it's because of the rich and the fact that they own a vast amount of industry and resources and therefore they control virtually every aspect of life.

In reality, the liberal theory is nothing more than a way of miseducating and manipulating people into thinking they have no control over any aspect of life and that the only way to survive is to increase dependency on the federal government through social programs and services.

Liberals depend on the poor, and intend for them to stay dependent upon them so that they can continue to profit off the poor from social programs.
