to be exact on my answer i need to know what type of vehicle it is make model year. but your most likely got water into ur starter or one of the starter relays or perhaps ur distributor or coil pack... .. check all grounds and be sure they all have a good connection also.

Turn off vehicle and accessory.

with flat head screwdriver - pry radio/air conditioning control bezel from dash. it just pops out and pops back in at 6 points 2 above a/c control, 1 on each side of radio, 1 on each side of CD changer/ storage pocket.

disconnect wire harness from air conditioner control.

remove the 4 Philips screws from the OEM tape player

disconnect wire harnesses (large wire harness goes to factory amp, small one wire harness controls dimming of factory disc changer, small round harness controls factory disc changer (if you have one).

disconnect large copper ground cable from back of OEM unit.

You will need - aftermarket radio mounting kit - available at wal-mart, eBay, best buy, etc... aftermarket radio wire harness, and of course a good supply of electric tape and wire cutters/strippers. Try not to use wire nuts as they can come off and short out your speakers or radio.

Follow instructions with aftermarket components for wiring harness and new CD player mounting kit instructions. Be sure to attach black ground wire to large copper cable - make sure it is a solid connection.

When all wires are connected, turn ignition key to accessory and test unit - if it works correctly, turn accessory back off. Mount new unit with new mounting kit and 4 Philips screws. reattach the a/c wire harness to the control and pop the bezel back in place - starting with the top - you will have to slide it up and then push in.

I have problem with my radio display. All digits show just a half numeric ?

Actually, I thought I bent the clips too on my 1994 Ford Ranger radio because I cheaped out and tried making the Ford DIN radio removal tools out of coat hangers too, before buying the real tool.

First, get the right tools. Got mine at Pep Boys, called the OEM Radio Removal Tools, part number CK-FDRT, for about $8. The rods are about 1/8" in diameter and bent into U-shape that fit into the upper and lower holes on the left and right of the radio face.

The ends are machined to a taper but have balls at the very end.

The trick is to push the rods no more than about 1" into the holes. Any further and most likely what is happening is that the rods slip past the clips and end up doing nothing.

After giving up with the coat hanger tools (having jammed them in way too far) I gently inserted the real tools and then wiggled the radio. It won't come out at first, but you will notice it is loose and can move left and right. This is because you have successfully collapsed the clips.

Those clips are a strange design. It's amazing they work. It's contra-intuitive to push in to pull clips toward the radio body. It doesn't make sense until you get the radio out and study the geometry of the clip. But they work.

Push the tool in until the radio loosens, then holding the U-shaped tools, push in and out multiple times until the radio begins to move out more each time. It will take some doing. The tools let go a couple of times.

The rear of the radio has a rear support that is like a plastic drawer slide center clip. It rides on a steel channel that is in the dash. This rear support is also inducing drag. You also are pulling the two wiring harnesses (power and speaker wires) and the antenna coax. Add all this drag and it's no wonder the radio doesn't want to move out initially.

The little balls on the end of the tools actually click into the clips and hold the radio somewhat. That's why you can pull on the tools to remove the radio.

If the clips reallly are bent you might be in serious trouble. All I know is that I thought I had bent them when in reality, the coat hangers had merely slipped through the clips and were not working.

Get the real tools and try again.

Started with the real tools that came with the conversion kit from Crutchfield. Right side popped loose immediately. Left side makes no click, does not release. Tried gentle, forceful, no luck. Switched tools, just in case. Marked the "good" side tool with a Sharpie at the insertion point where release occurred, could not duplicate with same insertion travel and positioning on the left side. Since the original Ford faceplate is discarded when installing the new kit, thinking about a hole saw in the panel face to get at the clip. Any suggestions appreciated.

Update - after trying to access the retaining clip from below and the side, found it is protected by full metal jacket everywhere. Could see the clip bent to the point where the inserted rods could not even touch them. I had to firmly bend the clip backward until the radio came out. The clip is ruined, but it was the only way to get past it. So if you find one side will release but not the other, try try and try some more to "convince it to release. Use of force will create what I found in this Taurus. Now I can guess why the previous owner spent money on speakers and left the original radio in place.

The phenomenon of the same stations getting picked up at two nearby points on the receiver dial is call double spotting. It is caused by inadequate image frequency rejection.

If you are talking about re-setting the anti-theft code due to the loss of electrical power - - you will need the radio's serial number )which you should have received with the delivery of the vehicle) AND the VIN number of the car. Take the numbers to your Honda dealer or call the Honda 800 customer serivce number and they can give you the unlock code. If you do not have the radio number then you will have to pull it from the dash and get the radio serial # off the back of the radio.

I bought my 2003 Element used so I didn't have the information. There was a sticker in the glove box that had the serial number of the radio and better yet the 5 digit reset code.

If you don't have the sticker, try this;

Make sure the radio is off, hold down the 1 and 6 preset buttons at the same time then turn on the radio. A series of numbers will show on the display for about 20 seconds (you can stop holding down the buttons at this point). This is your radio serial number.

there is a fuse panel on the left side of the dash at about your knee level, there is a cover over it, if you pull that off and look at the back of it there should be a diagram you will have to slide the driver's seat all the way back and lay on your back. Look up and to the right and you'll see the box with the diagram. release it, remove it and the fourth fuse on the bottom from the left is a 15A. Marked "Cig" on the diagram.

You need to turn off the radio and then turn it back on while holding down the clock button from there use the up and down buttons to change hour then press clock again and use the up and down buttons to change the minutes then turn off the radio. When you turn the radio on again the clock should be working

In a 2009 matiz you must gently pop out the housing (silver) from above the heating controls all the way up to the dials. It is one piece. Start at the bottom and move gently upwards. When this is done you will see the screws to remove both left and right. There are brackets screwed into the sides of the head unit which you will need to remove also. If you want to replace with a different model the bad news is you will need a new housing and cable adaptor (from halfords for about £12). Its a pain in the backside but can be done. Once you have the new parts, follow your common sense and then gently replace the housing from the top first and then applying equal pressure all the way down until it clicks fully in. Hope this helps, wish I had found an answer before I started! :)
