How do you sell a car from a deceased relative?

An action like that must be handled by the estate. If the deceased has left a will and named an executor, the executor must handle the disposal of any property. If no will was left, the courts will determine what happens to the property.

How can your daughter 18 buy a car without a co-signer?

If she has a job making +/- $1200/month, is a college student and is a first time buyer (college student requiirement may vary from place to place), and if she has a credit card (w/good credit) helps a whole lot to purchase a NEW car. She can get a secured credit card with your bank and it shows up just like regular credit cards (no one knows it's secured), however, credit card companies love to give 18 year olds credit cards also. Great way to build a good credit standing. But if she buys a used car and pay's it off in two to three years she can use that and her good credit card credit rating and can purchase a home/condo on her own. Very cooooool. And three years later she can buy another home/condo. Even more cooooool. But if she buys a new car she will be burdened with payments for 4 to 5 to 6 years and by then the cars falling to pieces and she has to purchase a new one again because a new car is more important to her than purchasing a home/condo which is what she will never get approved for if she's $20K to $30K in debt on a new car. So I hope she is wise enough to understand what I just explained. And if you can't or won't cosign for her then maybe she hasn't got a good attitude toward money and responsibility and needs to really take to heart what I've explained above. She needs to get a vision for her life beyond the car. If you can and will cosign for her she can redo the loan down the road and establish the credit for herself but she will have to pay a higher rate so that's not always the best way but it can work out with patience. Good luck.

How does the buyer protect himself if he has bought a car that has broken down within two months of the purchase when buying from a private seller?

In short, you are screwed. there is no way to reclaim money from a private seller in any state. your best bet would be a CARFAX or AUTOCHECK BEFORE

purchasing the vehicle. I know it sounds like a lot of trouble to go through, but

better 15/20 dollars now than a car broken down in the driveway with a 3k estimate for repairs.

Can a car dealership be sued for selling a car without a working headlight?

No, because when you buy a car you should turn the lights on to be sure they all work. Lack of due diligence on your part is not their fault.

Also consider: fixing a Saab headlight costs less than 20 dollars--just change the bulb, and they sell them at all auto parts stores, Walmarts and Targets in America. Even if you got a traffic ticket for having a burned-out headlight (and most cops will give you a warning ticket for this--fix the headlight, show it to a cop and you'll be clear) you won't recover enough from the dealership to pay off the costs of filing the suit.

Why is your name not on the registration of your lease vehicle?

Methinks what you want to know is why your partner hasn't included your name on the lease for the vehicle. If that's true, then you have to talk with your partner and find out what's going on. But then again, if you are not married to that partner then not having your name on the lease means that you are not legally responsible for the monthly payments and that debt. Choose wisely.

What does open title mean?

When the owner of a car signs the title, it becomes and open title, and the holder of the title is the owner of the car. When selling a vehicle, the owner should not sign the title until they have the money because if the buyer has possession of the open title and the vehicle, they can clam ownership.

What are the chances that after trading in a vehicle for a new one you would have to give the new car back because financing fell through?

It's best to make sure you have financing before you buy a car. If you plan on getting financing from somewhere other then the dealership, and you have a set amount you can spend, you won't let yourself get into a car that you can't afford and you may be able to haggle the price with the dealership more.

In a car repossession does the bank have the right to withhold information such as the name of the tow company?

No they don't, but let me tell you FORD did it to me for almost a week. And unless you have the $$ to sue them, they will drag it so the Repo People get more money for storage.

What state sells the most used cars?

I would assume that the selling of used cars is related to the population size. Larger population = more people getting rid of their old car.

Poorer areas are also more likely to bring in used cars from outside, and then hold onto them until they fall apart, and are no longer useful except for parts.

Likewise, richer areas are more likely to buy only new cars, and get rid of their old car before it falls apart.

Places with more environmentally-conscious people may also be less likely to sell an older car, or may be more likely to do so. The debate there is whether or not it's more harmful to produce a new car or keep an old one running.

Pretty much, where there are more cars, more used ones will be sold.
