Why does your 1998 Saturn sl2 windshield washer fluid not spray?
three things may be happening. Step 1, your washer pump has malfunctioned and is not pumping the fluid out of your reservior up to your windshield. Even if you can hear the pump motor run, it does not mean the accual pump inside is working. you can remove the wash reservior bottle by removing the 10mm hold down bolt, and pulling upwards on the bottle. you should beable to see the pump mounted on the front end of the bottle. you can remove the small tube coming out of the lower part of the pump easially. Once removed, activate the wash pump from inside the car to see if fluid is accually being pumped. If there is no fluid... replace the pump... if there is fluid, move on to step 2. If the pump motor does not run at all, move to step 3. Step 2. Follow the tube from the washer pump to the center of the firewall under the cowling to a plastic splitter. Remove the tube from the splitter and blow through it to make sure there is no blockage in the tube. if no blockage exists, reconnect the splitter and blow through it again. if you can pass air through the tube you are OK, if not, you may have a clogged nozzle. Step 3. Check your fuses, If all the fuses are good, the switch may be faulty in the multifunction control stick .

The SC and SL are two different body styles; SC stands for Sports Coupe (2 door) and the SL is the 4 door model (never did figure out what SL stands for)
The 1 and 2 designations indicate whether the engine is a single overhead cam or a dual overhead cam.

NEED to??? No.
But the question becomes, why are you replacing the camshaft? You should always replace the lifters when replacing the camshaft.
A worn camshaft usually indicates that there will be other wear as well, but if you just want to squeeze a few more miles out of the engine, you might be able to get by with just replacing the cam and lifters.

So the firing order for the 96 Saturn sl2 would be:
4 1 2 3 (for instance)

Did you ever find out how to fix this? i have this same issue... Sounds like what's wrong with mine, the idle air control valve. I haven't replaced my own yet, but it seems pretty straightforward. We had this problem with our 97 SL2 (Manual 5 sp) and it was serious and it sounds like what you guys have. The power steering fluid line leaked (Not enough to set off any system lights) all over the transmission. Power steering fluid is highly corrosive and it corroded part of the gear box inside. It may be a sneaky problem, but it is easy to check for, just check your power steering fluid level and pressure. It is pretty bad if left for long enough, definitely get it check out because you wont see the fluid leaking on the ground.

How many motor mounts are there on a 2002 Saturn SL?
I believe there are two: one upper and one lower. There is also a transmission mount. The lower one on my 94 rotted, (dry and wet rot), and I was able to replace the rubber part and save the metal housing that surrounds it. On my 2002 I am not so sure it is the same yet. I plan to replace it soon. I think it is gone because I get a lot of vibration from my engine.
