It goes back to the 1970's when he was fighting Russia in Afghanistan. The US supported him, gave his fighters training and arms, and provided funds for his fight. He took what he learned in the 1970's and used it later in his fight against the west after Russia left Afghanistan.

I think there would have been an attack between 2001-present but there would have been less spending. The Twin Towers would probably have been given up and al -queda would have focused on another target.

Total chaos in an emergency causes panic, and we all know that panic is one of the worst killers there is.

Osama the son of Laden was a fanatic Muslim, and he believed that the western world, including the United States, had to become a Muslim country or be destroyed.

No American did anything to provoke Osama or any of the Arab terrorists. George Bush was told by the CIA that Iraq under Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Saddam killed some 300,000 Kurds and some 200,000 of a different denomination of Muslims than he, himself, was. So President Bush heroically stepped in to stop Saddam and bring some sort of peace to the middle eastern countries around Iraq.

A terrorist militant group referred to as Al Qaeda hijacked four planes in order to fly them into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and (most likely) the White House, although this fourth plane failed to do so.

The Al Qaeda militants were angry that the U.S and NATO maintained a presence in the Middle East (primarily Saudi Arabia) after the Cold War, and believed that the U.S and Europe should remove all influence from the Middle East, allowing the natives to install their own governments (most likely through violent conquests).

The U.S ignored their threats for a decade or more, and the Clinton Administration ignored most of their minor attacks, so they planned 9/11 to, if nothing more, make a statement that they would no longer tolerate foreign influence in the Middle East.

As I am studying U.S. History, I just learned that we were next to careless in airport security before Tuesday, September 11, 2001. After this atrocity we started searching passengers carry-on bags and luggage as well as use weapon detectors and metal detectors. We decided to slow down from our hurried lives and take time to prevent further problems through these actions. Obviously more has been added to these minor actions in order to have a complete and safe journey to the passenger's destination.

The people running from ground zero as the towers collapsed. Sheer pandemonium and panic.

It's a day in the history of the U.S.A. that will never be forgotten. It was so unexpected it left not only the government, but society as a whole feeling vulnerable and terrified. Terrorists have been around for a long while, but this was the biggest threat on American soil. 9/11 changes the lives of not only Americans, but people all over the world. It reminded us that no country is safe and it woke up Western countries out of the fog they were in believing the opposite (we were snug and out of reach .. this includes Canada.) Psychiatry boomed up by another 70% or more because it was such a trauma to those affected by it by lost loved-ones and to those in society as a whole. It's terrifying to live in a large city in the U.S.A. and wonder when the next hit will come and now we're staring down the barrel of germ warfare. As always, although 9/11 will certainly never be forgotten and one should never forget the heroes (every day citizens) during that day, people in the U.S. and Canada or any other country that was involved in the World Trade Center are strong and will NEVER be beaten if we stick together. There is absolutely no room for terrorism in any way, shape or form. One good thing that did come out of this is people banding together helping each other and because of this we must never forget and honor those who have passed away by moving on in life, making our countries better and fighting against terrorism.

US nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in which thousands of innocent civilians including babies, childrem, women, elderly, pregnant women, newly wed brides, teenagers, hospital patients, disabled, mentallly ill people were killed for no crime of their own. Thousands more were maimed and became disabled for life. Thousands of new babies continue to be born disabled yeasr after the terrorist attacks. Shame on you US Governemnt! I have no quarrel with US ordinary people who are unintentional slaves to their governmet and big business.

Only one police dog was killed in the attack on the Twin Twers.
