Is racism a social injustice?

Racism is a social justice issue because it involves discriminating, teasing, killing, torturing and totally destroying confidence in people because of who they are. Racism can lead to death, not only by the people doing the discriminating but those who take their own lives because of what they have put up with. It is unjust to be racist and it is also morally wrong. It is obvious that racism has serious health, social and economic consequences. While the cost of social problems such as domestic violence, obesity and depression has been measured, there is no economic cost of racism to society in today's life. The government has been focusing on making more working opportunities to the people who are discriminated and consequently being not as well of as others being the ones doing the racism. Because of all these things coming together, it is a major social justice issue. The issue of racism has been happening for hundreds of years and thankfully has come down dramatically in the last decade. This social justice issue in Australia is important because 75% of racism in Australia is to the local indigenous Australians. It is socially unjust because they are the true Australians who own the land and we are making fun of them because of their skin color and how they live their traditional lives. In society they are the ones who have right of way and us being racist to them is a social justice issue.

Define social evils?

The definition of a social evil depends on who, when or where it is defined. The answer to this question can literally fill a book. At first glance it's clear that the word evil must be defined. After that it must be determined if it meets the criteria of social. To validate the last few sentences an example is necessary. I'll use human slavery as an example and travel back in time and then deal with the present.

The year is 1750 in Richmond, Virginia, and the discussion involves the institution of slavery on a global scale. An opponent of slavery says that owning slaves is a global evil. It is contended that such a practice is an affront to God and humanity in general.

A proponent of slavery says slavery is lawful and practiced in many parts of the world. Following up, the proponent points out that even the Bible lays out how slaves should be treated, thus it cannot be an affront to God.

We turn the clock forward to 2013.

Basically this social evil of 1750 does not even exist. It's unlawful and not legally practiced anywhere. And, the documents that the US society is based on says that all men & (women)are created equal.

The example is a simplified version of how far a social evil can be defined.

There's normally higher humidity further up in the atmosphere and when it rains you can think of it as a kind of tipping point where evaporation has sucked so much humidity from the ground into the upper atmosphere that it can no longer hold all of it. What happens is all that moisture falls to the ground all at once so you get a bunch of a humidity at the surface.
