Absolutely horrible ride!

With correct air pressure in the tires, every bump, expansion joint, and crack causes the tires to dribble and the resultant sounds reverberate through the car with hollow thuds.

Dealer service manager noticed it but had no answers.

Praying for some aftermarket shock manufacturer to help me to love driving this otherwise great car.

If you get a P0507 High Idle code on a 2000 and 2001 Subaru Outback (2.5L) and the idle is not especially high it problem may be a bad connection at the neutral/safety switch on the transmission. The switch may be incorrectly telling the PCM that the car is in gear when it isn't, or the other way around. Disconnect the connector from the switch and check each pin to make sure it's seated well and theres no corrosion. Clean all the ground connections in the engine compartment and use dielectric grease when reassembling, then clear the code and see if that takes care of it If not then the car may need a flash update for the PCM

By drive belt; I assume you mean a timing belt. On a 3.0 H-6, there is a timing chain in place of the belt (Very durable). It is housed behind cast aluminum timing chain covers on the front of the engine. On an engine with a timing belt, I would do the change myself; but I recommend that a timing chain be replaced by a Subaru dealer simply for the fact that the tension, alignment, and timing can be hard to set yourself with a chain.

Owner's manual for my '96 says 3.7 US quarts. I would expect it to be the same. If you don't have an owner's manual and take care of your own car, you really need to get one. They are available on eBay for less than $10. Newer ones are available for download in .pdf format on Subaru's web site free.

Depends on who you ask. I've had one and really liked it alot - repairs were rather expensive and my pet peeve was the 'dealer item only' for windshield wipers at $25 a pair. Otherwise, it was always fun to drive and had a comfortable drive. And having AWD was a huge bonus too, especially in the snow.

Between your steering wheel and your instrument panel on your steering column, you will find a small rocker switch that controls the parking lights. I can't tell you why it is there, but it does turn the parking lights off and on independent of the ignition and headlight switch.

My 2005 Outback 2.5i with a manual transmission averages 28 MPG highway in winter and 30 MPG in summer. I think that the winter gas out here on the west coast has a bit to do with the lower MPG in the cold months. Combined city/highway is usually 27 MPG or so.

Its behind the glovebox, you need to take the glove box out and maybe some other screws to get to it. just search subaru air cabin filter change on google and theres lots of pics and stuff.

Haynes Repair Manual says yes, but with all 4 wheels on the ground, not to exceed 20 mph & not over six miles. I would not take any chance, call a flat-bed tow truck...

No, to the best of my knowledge Subaru uses only one on their engines. One on my 1996, 2000, and 2007, so I assume the years between have only one.
