How did Hamas come to power in Gaza?
Strange as it seems to most of us in the West, Hamas was democratically elected in 2006. Their campaign was that would (1) be less corrupt than Fatah - the reigning party at the time, (2) they would provide medical assistance and school programs, (3) they would have a much more aggressive tone against Israel. All three of these points made them more desirable than Fatah to the Palestinian people.
However, after the election victory, Fatah was unwilling to cede power to Hamas. This led to the Gazan Civil War of 2007, where Hamas forcibly ejected Fatah from the Gaza Strip, but was unable to do so in the West Bank since the Palestinian controlled areas are non-contiguous.
Have KAR98s ever been used by Al Qaeda or the Taliban?
Possibly- since the Mauser 98K was used by the Israeli military in the early days of Israel. It was generally not the weapon of choice in Afghanistan- the British SMLE was.
There have been Chinese made variations of the Mauser rifle captured in Afghanistan, though not Kar98 carbines specifically. Groups affiliated with Al-Quaeda in Africa have them, as the Kar98 saw extensive use in Africa, both by the Afrika Corps of WWII and in the period of colonial wars which followed the end of the Second World War. We also regularly captured Mauser variants (including Kar98s), Lee-Enfields, and Mosin-Nagants in Iraq - they were put into service because their cartridges offered significantly better performance at range than the 7.62x39 cartridge. So while I can't for certain that Al-Quaeda specifically has used them, they are present and have seen use in places where Al-Quaeda operates.

Does the United States support terrorism?
According to U.S. law, no.
U.S. Code Title 22, Ch.38, Para. 2656f(d) says that terrorism:
"means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents"
See? The United States is not a subnational group, it is a national group.
Destroying civilian buildings and killing civilians are only cowardly acts of terrorism if those committing it are subnational. If the group is national, than such acts are only infrastructure reduction and collateral damage.

What was the Reign of Terror and who was responsible for it?
The Reign of Terror (France, June 27, 1793 - July 27, 1794)
This was a bloody period of about 13 months during the French Revolution, when struggles between rival factions led to mutual radicalization which took on a violent character with mass executions by the guillotine.
The revolution in 1789 led to political anarchy in France which was never really stabilised until the military rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. Even then there was much plotting and intrigue. The Reign of Terror was an attempt to eliminate the French royalist elite (the nobility) from the national fabric. The Reign of Terror was the achievement of the Jacobin faction that created The Committee of Public Safety, led by Georges Danton and Maximilien Robespierre.
The purpose of the Reign was to "purge France of enemies of the Revolution and protect the country from foreign invaders". From January 1793 - July 1794, France was governed by the Committee of Public Safety, in which Danton and Robespierre were influential members. In one period of nine months, 16,000 people were guillotined, and executions of those labeled "internal enemies" of France took place throughout the country.
Georges Danton was executed after Robespierre's supporters assumed control, on the premise that he was too lenient to the enemies of the state. The Reign was finally brought an end as the members of the National Convention realized that any of them might be arbitrarily accused and executed.
Robespierre was finally removed from power, and was injured in what some reported as a suicide attempt. In the end, he faced the same fate as those he had denounced : he was beheaded on July 28, 1794.
---
The Reign of Terror was a period of violence that occurred for one year and one month, about 4 years after the onset of the French Revolution. It was incited by conflict between rival political factions, the Girondins and the Jacobins, and marked by mass executions of "enemies of the revolution."
After the execution of Louis XVI in 1793, the Reign of Terror began. Among the victims was Marie-Antoinette. She had been imprisoned with her children after she was separated from Louis. The guillotine, the new instrument of egalitarian justice, was put to work. Public executions were considered educational. Women were encouraged to sit and knit during trials and executions. The Revolutionary Tribunal ordered the execution of 2,400 people in Paris through July, 1794. Across France 30,000 people lost their lives.

Why are most of the muslims fundamentalists and terrorists?
Answer 1
Some Muslims are fundamentalists just as some Christians, Jews and Hindus are Fundamentalists. Fundamentalism is a condition of mind and is not limited to any one faith or religious community.
Answer 2
Dr. Zakir Naik replied in his book 'Answers to non-muslims common questions' reply to this question as;
This question is often hurled at Muslims, either directly or indirectly, during any discussion on religion or world affairs. Muslim stereotypes are perpetuated in every form of the media accompanied by gross misinformation about Islam and Muslims.
In fact, such misinformation and false propaganda often leads to discrimination and acts of violence against Muslims. A case in point is the anti-Muslim campaign in the American media following the Oklahoma bomb blast, where the press was quick to declare a 'Middle Eastern conspiracy' behind the attack. The culprit was later identified as a soldier from the American Armed Forces.
Let us analyse this allegation of 'fundamentalism' and 'terrorism':
1. Definition of the word 'fundamentalist'
A fundamentalist is a person who follows and adheres to the fundamentals of the doctrine or theory he is following. For a person to be a good doctor, he should know, follow, and practise the fundamentals of medicine. In other words, he should be a fundamentalist in the field of medicine. For a person to be a good mathematician, he should know, follow and practise the fundamentals of mathematics. He should be a fundamentalist in the field of mathematics. For a person to be a good scientist, he should know, follow and practise the fundamentals of science. He should be a fundamentalist in the field of science.
2. Not all 'fundamentalists' are the same
One cannot paint all fundamentalists with the same brush. One cannot categorize all fundamentalists as either good or bad. Such a categorization of any fundamentalist will depend upon the field or activity in which he is a fundamentalist. A fundamentalist robber or thief causes harm to society and is therefore undesirable. A fundamentalist doctor, on the other hand, benefits society and earns much respect.
3. I am proud to be a Muslim funda-mentalist
I am a fundamentalist Muslim who, by the grace of Allah, knows, follows and strives to practise the fundamentals of Islam. A true Muslim does not shy away from being a fundamentalist. I am proud to be a fundamentalist Muslim because; I know that the fundamentals of Islam are beneficial to humanity and the whole world. There is not a single fundamental of Islam that causes harm or is against the interests of the human race as a whole. Many people harbour misconceptions about Islam and consider several teachings of Islam to be unfair or improper. This is due to insufficient and incorrect knowledge of Islam.
If one critically analyses the teachings of Islam with an open mind, one cannot escape the fact that Islam is full of benefits both at the individual and collective levels.
4. Dictionary meaning of the word 'fundamentalist'
According to Webster's dictionary 'fundamentalism' was a movement in
American Protestantism that arose in the earlier part of the 20th century. It was a reaction to modernism, and stressed the infallibility of the Bible, not only in matters of faith and morals but also as a literal historical record. It stressed on belief in the Bible as the literal word of God. Thus fundamentalism was a word initially used for a group of Christians who believed that the Bible was the verbatim word of God without any errors and mistakes.
According to the Oxford dictionary 'fundamentalism' means 'strict maintenance of ancient or fundamental doctrines of any religion, especially Islam'.
Today the moment a person uses the word fundamentalist he thinks of a Muslim who is a terrorist.
5. Every Muslim should be a terrorist
Every Muslim should be a terrorist. A terrorist is a person who causes terror.
The moment a robber sees a policeman he is terrified. A policeman is a terrorist for the robber. Similarly every Muslim should be a terrorist for the antisocial elements of society, such as thieves, dacoits and rapists. Whenever such an anti-social element sees a Muslim, he should be terrified. It is true that the word 'terrorist' is generally used for a person who causes terror among the common people. But a true Muslim should only be a terrorist to selective people i.e. antisocial elements, and not to the common innocent people. In fact a Muslim should be a source of peace for innocent people.
6. Different labels given to the same individual for the same action,
i.e. 'terrorist' and 'patriot'
Before India achieved independence from British rule, some freedom fighters of
India who did not subscribe to non-violence, were labelled as terrorists by the British government. The same individuals have been lauded by Indians for the same activities and hailed as 'patriots'. Thus two different labels have been given to the same people for the same set of actions. One is calling him a terrorist while the other is calling him a patriot. Those who believed that Britain had a right to rule over India called these people terrorists, while those who were of the view that Britain had no right to rule India called them patriots and freedom fighters.
It is therefore important that before a person is judged, he is given a fair hearing.
Both sides of the argument should be heard, the situation should be analysed, and the reason and the intention of the person should be taken into account, and then the person can be judged accordingly.
7. Islam means peace
Islam is derived from the word 'salaam' which means peace. It is a religion of peace whose fundamentals teach its followers to maintain and promote peace throughout the world.
Thus every Muslim should be a fundamentalist i.e. he should follow the fundamentals of the Religion of Peace: Islam. He should be a terrorist only towards the antisocial elements in order to promote peace and justice in the society.
What do Hezbollah and Hamas have in common?
Hamas and Hezbollah are Arab Muslim Terrorist and Paramilitary Organizations. Hamas operates out of Syria and the Gaza Strip while Hezbollah operates out of Syria and Lebanon.
General Characteristics
The most common and identifiable Hamas terrorist action is the suicide bomber who blows himself up to take out some enemies as well as himself while Hezbollah and Hamas have increasingly used missiles and rockets. These organizations tell their membership that the fight in which they are engaged is part of the holy Islamic struggle of Jihad and anyone who opposes them is not properly guided. Therefore, Hamas and Hezbollah will identify what sect of Islam they belong to and whether or not they oppose the other sects. (Hamas is avowedly Sunni, but accepts Shiites because Iran provides most of its funding. Hezbollah is Shiite and does not recognize the validity of Sunni Islam.) Most Muslim terrorists wish to inspire fear in their enemies and therefore primarily attack civilians, considering them part of the enemy. Since Hamas and Hezbollah exist in countries with a weak internal support structure, in many cases they will use their own funds to build schools, parks, hospitals, and other social services in the communities they occupy. It provides goodwill with the local inhabitants and allows them to more effectively spread whatever messages they may wish to say. Finally, Hamas and Hezbollah have all actively engaged in elections (Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Palestine) with their own political parties. If the governments formed after these elections were not desirable to these parties, they engaged in military actions to force the national government to capitulate to their desires. In the case of Hezbollah this created a violent stand-off in Beirut and in the case of Hamas, this prompted a Palestinian Civil War in Gaza and the West Bank.
How has terrorism become global?

What did the Irish republican army do to England and northern Ireland?
The attempted to use terrorism to political ends. Ie they tried to force the people of Northern Ireland to join the Republic of Ireland despite a majority of people in Northern Ireland wishing to remain in the United Kingdom. They attempted to force unification by killing protestants and attacking goverment buildings. They also set bombs in shopping centres and killed more than 1000 people in their attempts. They failed to achieve unification and the "political" representatives agreed that Northern Ireland was part of the United Kingdom in the Belfast Agreement in 1998. The IRA have been on ceasefire since. However there have been numerous although isolated murders by the IRA since then.
