What would cause a clicking sound while starting a 89 Jeep Wrangler. When you turn the key it clicks but doesn't turn over motor. I replaced the Starter and selonoid but the same thing still happens.?

You mean a ticking sound while TRYING to start a jeep? If the jeep doesnt start and is making this noise then either it doesnt have enough amps to start or the starter is bad. You can have the battery tested for free at autozone. It could also be that your alterntor isn't charging the battery also.

When should the timing belt be changed on a 97 T-100?

I've heard every 60,000 miles.

Answer

in 97 they decided to extend the change interval to 90,000 miles. the 3400 engine on this model has a very good record for not breaking. let it go til then and you should be fine. one note though, replace the water pump at the same time. if it isn't leaking yet, it will be soon and you'll save about 4.5 hours labor to remove the timing belt again and do the pump when it does finally go. the pump is about 100.00 and the extra labor is minimal compared to starting from scratch.

On my 1995 2wd T100 I waited until 100,000 miles and had both the timing belt and water pump replaced for around $400.00, in 2005 here in Salt Lake City, UT And yes I do have the 3.4 liter V6 engine.

You have a 2005 Highlander V6 4x4 The options specify you should have a tire pressure monitor reset switch but you don't see it on your dash board Where is it?

The mysterious tire warning reset switch isn't on the dashboard proper at all. Instead, it's under the lower lip of the dashboard near the steering column, just about where your left knee is. If you open the driver side door and look under the dash, you should see a small black "Tire Set" switch just slightly to the right of the OBD II port. Press the switch for about three seconds and the tire warning light should go off. The low tire pressure warning light will come on after the tires have been rotated. System must be reinitialized by pushing the reset button If your tires have been rotated you must "reinitialize" the system. With motor not running turn key to "on" position then push in the reset button, keep holding it until the warning goes out and the light blinks 3 times. Without this step the light reappears constantly.

When should a timing belt be replaced?

to tell you the truth is better to be safe and change your belt around 90,000 miles and while youre at it have youre water pump changed also.I waited to late and just had to buy a new engine.

Depends on the make, model, year, and engine in your vehicle, none of which you list. It ranges from 60,000 to 110,00 miles. Some cars have interference engines and as such if the belt breaks you will have internal engine damage. Open and read your owners manual or call your local dealer for a correct answer.

Why would the trac off lights be on?

I had the same problem. I would be driving and all of a sudden the engine would shut down. The car shifted hard and would sometimes die on idle. I researched online and some said it could be the fuel pump. So I replaced that ($55 New on ebay) and it t didnt help. Read that it could be the crank position sensor ($22 at Autozone) . Replaced that and still the same problem. I had them pull the code at autozone and found out that it was the throwing a code for the MAP sensor. I found it and when to remove it and found that the vaccuum hose was disintegrating on both ends. The guy at autozone gave me a piece about a 3-4 inch piece of fuel line because its stronger than the regular vaccuum line. Replacing that hose fixed everything ($FREE). MAP sensor was still good. Happy I found this before I started looking as vehicle speed sensors because those are expensive to replace.

What would cause a 2000 ford windstar left power window not to go up and down?

3 things to look for

1. the door switch 2. broken wire between door and body 3. most likely the window motor has quit and will need to be replaced

Also try this!!!!

Stuck Armature BrushesMake sure the motor is in fact bad... Many times they just stop working because the armature brushes hang up and will not make contact with the motor armature. Sometimes you can slam the car door and this will jar the brushes and they will make contact with the armature. If this doesn't work you will need to remove the door panel and reach inside the door where the window motor is located and tap the electric motor with a small hammer or some other suitable object. While you are tapping the motor have someone hold the window switch in a functioning position, either up or down depending on the position of your window. I have done this many many times and hopefully it will work for you and you will not have to replace the motor. Good luck

This works great, just be careful when the window does start to move. Have whoever is tapping on the armature to remove their arm from the window path. I almost smashed my husband's hand!

I tried the armature brush thing. Worked great!! Thank you. I wasn't looking forward to replacing the motor.

I have a ford windstar 2003 and for the last one year either the front right or left power window has not been rolling down. AAA mechanics told me they have to strip the whole door so as to diagnose the problem which might cost up to $500 to fix. My car inspection was due this month and was not ready to spend that much. I came across your diagnosis and I tried it. First I did bang the door several times but didn't work and almost gave up. Then I switched on the car, closed the door, estimated the position of the armature and started banging the side of the door from the inside. Viola! within two minutes the window rolled down. Thanks for sharing you saved me a tone of money.

How do you remove the rear license plate panel the piece of plastic that the license plate mounts to on a 1999 4Runner?

remove the licence plate, open the tailgate, remove the cover on the pulldown strap, remove the 10mm bolt that secures the strap, remove the panel by prying one of the lower corners and then pulling the panel to release the plastic fasteners. push the panel up toward the top to release the panel from the gate. there is a black panel with about 10 10mm screws in it, remove them all then pull the panel away from the gate. let it hang on the wires attached to it, theyll be fine. inside youll find some studs protruding through, opposite where the panel is. remove the nuts on these also the nuts securing the tailgate lock cylinder, the wire connector on the cylinder, and the wire connector for the lic. plate lights. then (carefully!) take long needle nose pliers and release the plastic clips that hold the panel in place. there are like 6, they are hard as hell to get to and release for a first timer and if you break too many, you have to buy a panel to replace it!
