Draw the wiper arm out from the windshield and flip the blade assembly upside down. At the end where it attaches, on the inside at the bottom, there is a lever that can be depressed with a thumbnail, allowing the inside of the tip of the arm some give. This allows you to use a narrow screw-driver tp flip the hinged piece, on the inside, upward, releasing the wiper blade assembly, which you lift outward from the pin that it sits on. The rubber part of the blade has thin metal braces on either side. One end is free so that you can slide it through the guides and gte it out. The metal braces fall out. Save them and the original piece. Buy replacement standard rubber blade and cut it to the right length (one is shorter than the other) reassemble, slide new piece (with metal braces) through the guides and lock in place, Then remount the blade and snap the end back into the position you found it in.

NO. There is a timing chain, and under most conditions, lasts the life of the vehicle. Do not get hooked into replacing the timing chain unless absolutely necessary with high mileage and extreme engine abuse. It would cost about $1500 at the dealer.

The best thing is to take it to a clock shop. There can be many things wrong with the clock varying from needing oil (dont use a spray) to needing a new movement or rebuild.

It depends on the kind of Matrix that you have. Both the base 2WD model and the 4WD model have a 1ZZ-FE engine that produces roughly 140hp. The 2WD XRS edition has the 2ZZ-GE engine, which produced 180hp in 2003. As a bit of trivia, the 2ZZ-GE engine was co-developed by Toyota and Yamaha and is used in the Toyota Matrix XRS as well as the Corolla XRS, Celica and the Lotus Exige and Elise.

There is probably a belt tensioner that the belt runs around. To release the tension, the pulley must be pushed or pulled the opposite direction that the belt is pushing on it. Or, there should be an adjustment for the power steering pump that can be loosened. You might start there.

It's been my experience that for the most part, these parts are interchangeable. As a matter of fact, there have been some parts that I've gotten significantly cheaper at the same auto parts store when buying the Toyota part for my '03 Vibe. The only time I recall there being any sort of issue was replacing the brake sensor switch (not sure if that's the exact part name). If I remember right, the auto parts store couldn't find the Pontiac part that supported cruise control, but was able to get the Toyota part. These vehicles were built as a partnership between Pontiac & Toyota which explains their similarities and the interchangeability of the parts.

The Air Intake Temperature Sensor for this year and model Toyota Matrix is actually integrated (combined) with the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Both make up a single unit that is located just past the air intake receiver (the box where the air filter element is kept) if you follow the path of air flow. It appears as a shallow, flat, black box and has a terminal connector with five terminals. Attached to it, through a five prong flat plug, are five wires. Looking into the sensor, they are numbered from right to left 1-5. Terminal four and five are the important ones because they control all functions of the Air Intake Temperature Sensor. Each wire used in this multifunction plug has a different function and therefore a different color also. The Air Intake Temperature Sensor wires in terminal four and five should be yellow/black stripe and brown, respectively.

You almost don't want to know... I just did it!!! It is quite involved. I took a bunch of photos of the process and I don't see that this site allows photos. But, here's the reader's digest version: 1. remove center console panel 2. remove lower console cover (held down by five screws) 3. remove wire harness that goes up to the OD button 4. unthread the wire harness up to the shifter lever 5. remove the two set screws that hold the shifting knob onto shaft. 6. Lift knob up and hold onto the shifting button when it springs out 7. Remove the little strip with the orange tab and then remove the gear indicator plate by pulling outward and upward along the edges 8 Put in new bulb 9. put it all back together again!!!!!!! It's NOT easy!!!

Just below the passenger side door, along the outside edge of the bottom of your Miata, you'll find a seam where the sheet metal meets and has been welded together. Upon careful examination along the length of that seam, you'll find at least two small spots where the sheets of metal flair apart wide enough for coat hanger wire to slip inside. These holes are meant to drain the water that can collect in the body of your Miata after a hard rain. They can easily become clogged with dirt. To clear them, straighten out a coat hanger and gently slide one end into the hole about three inches to clear the obstruction. If water is currently sloshing around in the body, it should immediately begin to stream out.
