Hi. To get to the oil filter, you need to jack up the car and unscrew the plastic cover underneath the rear engine of the MR2. The oil filter is located in the middle-rear section under the vehicle. Why is it hard to turn the steering wheel of the Toyota MR2 89?
Mk1 Mr2's do not have power steering. PS isn't really necessary in Mr2's because there is no weight in the front end (try turning the wheels of any front engine non-ps vehicle and you'll realize that your Mr2's a hundred times easier). Also, manual steering allows for slightly better road feel, it would be a pain in the ass to route PS from the rear to the front, and with only 113hp PS would take too much power from the motor.

you have to tap into your intake manifold and install the pressure line there. you can only put it on the intake manifold. then run your line through the firewall. make sure there is no way that it can become cut or kinked. then mount your gauge and hook up the line and the power can come from any 12 volt source.

Most likely it has experienced severe engine damage. It's possible that there is sludge in the lifters causing the ticking, or it's possible that there is more severe damage. Change the oil now. Drive it for a few miles then change the oil again. Before you change it you might want to put some "engine flush" in just a few minutes before you change the oil then start it and let it idle.
If that doesn't clear out the noise, drive it until it drops, but keep the oil up and keep it changed regularly.
