Volvo S80

I own a 2001 Volvo S80. If you damage the head it will cost over $2000 nor non-turbo motor to get repaired. (I highly recommend YOU DON'T replace it yourself!) If you are a skilled mechanic then go for it. One tool you will need is a "cam gear lock tool" this will keep the cam gears from moving and throwing the cam timing out... I personlly got luck when placing a ad on Craigslist.com and finding a local shop in Portland OR that specialize in building high performance Volvos and only charged $45 a hour for labor. Most shops start at $85+ a hour!

This is actually fairly easy. I just did it myself, but for cylinder 2. You need to get a new cylinder which will cost about $50 from Schucks. While you're at it get 6 new spark plugs.

Pop off the black plastic cover (both parts of cover) under the hood that's held down by 5 or 6 hex screws. Under there you will find the 6 cylinders. They should be labeled, but if not they go from #1-6 working from left to right, if you are facing the engine.

Simply unscrew the bolt that holds down the #4 cylinder, disconnect the wiring, replace with your new one, change the spark plug and then put it back on. That's it. I went ahead and replaced all my spark plugs while I was there. Dont forget to disconnect the battery though....it's in the trunk.

Worked for me and now she runs like a champ again.

The 2005 Volvo S80 has an inline 5 engine.

This means the the turbo is generating too much boost and is tripping out the engine management.

there are many causes for this. You should consult a ASE trained technician.

1. Turn ignition switch to position I.

2. Press and hold "day counter reset button".

3. Turn ignition to position II.

4. Continue holding day counter for about 10 seconds.

5. While SRL flashes, release day counter button.

6. Should hear "beep-beep" to confirm command accepted.

It is an error code that says the variable valve timing is out of limits, may need a timing adjustment or a new vvt solenoid

you simply get in car with door shut, turn key to "dash lights on position", hold odometer reset button in, then turn key to full ON position"headlights on" and hold for 3-5 seconds. light should be flashing. turn off then start car--done.

Ya i just did one on my 93 dodge and ill never do it again just take it to the dealer and pay the extra money because its a pain that's the best i got for you

Wheel bearing are what allow wheels to spin smoothing on an axle. A broken wheel bearing can lead to fatal car accidents. To replace a wheel bearing on a Volvo s80 remove the wheel hub and have the bearing pressed out. Press the new bearing into the wheel hub to ensure a safe install.

there are 3 wing nut in the truck behind the tail light they need to come off very ez the hold tail light comes out then you replace the bulbs only takes minutes

My 2004 Volvo s80 was made in Sweden (may be different from above), to access the tail light there is a turn twist nob on the carpet that covers light access on each side turn it to release then pull carpet back. You can now access the tail light black plastic assembly. To remove this whole assembly (as you must to replace lights) you must press the black tab on each side of the assembly. There are two black tabs one on the fender side and one black tab on the inner side of the assembly (nearset you if you are looking in frome the trunk). These tabs are where the black ligt assembly meets the red of the lens cover and while tricky if you succesfully press each of these two tabs they will release the black light assembly from the red lens then you will easily be able to remove and replace lights. Again patience when putting it back in, it fits, believe me look at it and be patient it just snaps back in.

Unhook the battery to stop them, and probably the control module or switch went bad and that's the reason they wont turn off.

The gas tank on the 2010 Volvo S80 holds 18.5 gal..

no idea whats wrong but mine does the same.... it might be the clutch or the gear box.... took mine to a Volvo dealer.. they fixed something but it still broke down again on the way home... not sure they know what they are doing.. do you have any more info ??
