Where is the VIN on 1963 VW BUS?

a couple of places...or at least it should be.

Open your engine decklid, and look on the metal body area near the #1 spark plug (between the engine and the battery.) It should be imbossed into the body of the car. If that area is cut out, it was likely junked at one point in its life.

Look behind the passenger seat.

Look on the passenger side of the fresh air vent on the roof.

A 1963 bus VIN has 7 numbers.

Removing the drums on a 1965 volswagon bug?

Removing the front drums starts with jacking the car up and removing the wheel. Pop off the dust cap (if there's a square thing sticking out of the cap with a circlip on it, remove the circlip first). There's two nuts on here, and one has two little locking tabs bent up into slots on it. Bend the tabs out, then unscrew the first nut, remove the locking plate and remove the second nut. Pull the brake drum toward you and push it back in. Remove the washer and the inner race for the outer bearing, then pull off the brake drum. Finally, remove the inner race of the inner bearing.

Removing the rear drums starts with NOT jacking the car up. Chock the wheels really well. Remove the cotter pin from the axle, then use a 36mm socket on a 1/2" or (preferably) 3/4" breaker bar with a big cheater on it to helo you remove this nut. Do not laugh--this nut is ON THERE!! Once it gets loose, jack the car up, remove the wheel, then the nut, and finally the brake drum.

Open the trunk lid--AKA the "front hood." There's a data plate in there that has the country of manufacture on it. You can't really go by engine number because so many Bugs are driving around with engines that came from the factory in other Bugs.

How do you install a convertible top on a 1977 Super Beetle Volks Wagen?

Google "Chuck's Convertible Parts". He sells a booklet that tells you how to do it. Even with the book, its a lot of work and can be very frustrating. You can certainly do it but it might be worth it to have a professional do it, especially if you are restoring the car and want a "show car" look.

Removing door panel on 1973 VW Super Beetle?

Pretty simple. You'll have to take the arm rest off so unscrew that and take off. The latch for the door has a "secret" panel where your finger goes in to to pull the latch. Use a small screwdriver and look closely at it. You should see a very small slot to the right. Insert your small screw driver and pull the panel out. Sounds hard but it come right out. The screw is behind that panel. The window crank has a screw in the center of the crank handle. (Sometimes you have to pull the covering to the crank back to see it)

Finally, use a small puddy knife and insert between the panel and the door. Pull slowly to seperate the panel from the door. They are plastic clips. BE CAREFUL and DO IT SLOWLY. They will all "POP" off. Do it all around the panel until all have been popped out.

Replace the clips if they break.

What is the year of manufacture of an A5 Browning A5 20 ga Serial C14327?

You have what is known as an "American Browning". When the Germans invaded Belgium in 1940, Browning lost it's production from FN in Herstal. Browning went to Remington and requested that they make the Auto-5 for Browning during this time frame. Remington agreed (much at the resentment of many employees) and manufactured the gun using the Remington model 11 machinery. They added the magazine cutoff and stamped all guns as Browning Arms Co. St Louis Mo. Nowhere on these guns is there anything stamped or shown to indicate Remington. All of these guns were made at the Remington plant in Ilion New York. Over 63,000 guns were made in 12, 16 & 20 guages. The 3 shot model was also made. These guns were produced between 1940 and 1948. The last few were delivered in 1949. There was no production in 1943 and 1944 due to Remingtons obligations to the US War effort. This 20ga gun with serial number C14327 was made in 1947.

How do you adjust carburetor for high altitude?

It needs to be "re-jetted", meaning that you change the jets until you come up with the right mixture.

An exhaust gas analyzer is extremely helpful in this task.

# Run the engine up to operating temperature then drive around while watching the exhaust gas analyzer readings. # If the exhaust gas readings show that the engine is running rich, change to smaller jets. # If the exhaust gas readings show that the engine is running lean, change to larger jets. # If the exhaust gas readings show that you're running about right, don't worry, you can probably run it some more and end up with another reading. # If you're not completely happy with the readings, go back to step 1, otherwise, you're done.

Will a 1966 VW transaxle fit a 1967 vw?

if its irs with irs you can but if its irs with mormal you cant

Edit: These are what is referred to as "swingaxle" transaxles in both year vehicles. The 1967and 68 has the wider track axles compared to the 1966. You could put in the 66 in the 67 but be aware the difference in track width would move the rear wheels in an inch or so.It is possible of course to switch the axles and axle housings form the 67 to the 66 transaxle.
