What is the torque specification for the head bolts when replacing a head gasket on a 81 vw rabbit 1.6 diesel?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Oooh, good question :) If your '81 has 6-point socket screws, the torque spec is 50Nm (37 lb/ft), then another sequence of 70Nm (52 lb/ft), and finish up with another sequence of 90Nm (66 lb/ft). If your '81 uses 12-point socket screws, the torque spec is 40Nm (30 lb/ft), followed by another sequence of 60Nm (44 lb/ft), and then torque each screw an additional half turn with a breaker bar (NOT the torque wrench!). Additionally, here's the torque sequence if you were looking at the motor: (10) (4) (2) (6) (8) (7) (5) (1) (3) (9) Good luck! And, get the proper gasket :)

How do you change air filter in a VW Rabbit?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The air filter is located beneath the fuel distributor, behind the battery. There's four clips around the air box that you need to pop off. Once this is done, you should be able to open the air box with the fuel distributor, fuel lines, etc. still attached and pull the filter out. Honestly, this is 100% easier if you just move the battery out of the way first, but it's not necessary.

How do you set the time on a 1980 volkswagen rabbit diesel?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You DON'T. This is something you take to a VW mechanic, like a dealership. Unless you want to spend $5000. for the tool that senses fuel injection pulses (and you set it to a hair of being right on). Me, I find it more economical for them to do it right, then for me to mess it up. It is not something you can hear with the ear.

Where can you locate the fuse box for the speedometer to a 91 Nissan 240sx?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Answer

there are only 2 spots I know to find fuses, one on the driver side next to your left foot, and in the engine bay near the battery, I would imagine the fuse for the cluster is located somewhere on the inside box. If it's a digital cluster though, the problem might be the cluster and not the fuse.

there is another fuse box under the the air intake, all the way to the left. when u get a aftermarket intake you have to bolt it down cause it moves around.

Change air filter 2007 vw rabbit?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

To replace the air filter on a 2007 VW Rabbit, you need to remove the screws holding the air duct, then gently push each end of the plastic engine cover and pull it off, rotating the unit to the side before removing several more screws to gain access to the filter. If you want to know where the filter is, there is a diagram in the engine compartment.

Vw golf mk1 won't start but it turns what wrong?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Could be many things, but I'd suggest the main reasons being:

  1. fuel not getting through due to blocked pipe/pump not working, or no fuel in it!!
  2. electrical fault, so no spark at spark plugs

I'd recomend getting a manual to check all of the above if you're not sure about how to check them!!

How do you change oil filter in 2008 vw rabbit?

User Avatar

An oil change for a 2008 VW Rabbit can be accomplished at home to save money and time. Drive the car upon ramps, locate the oil tank, place the oil pan underneath the spigot and unscrew the cap to drain. Locate the oil filter and using the appropriate wrench, remove. Take the new filter, place a bit of oil on the O-ring and screw new filter in. Add new oil and drive away.

What does a weber carburetor do on a volkswagen scirocco 1.8 more HP?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The original carburettor in the golf and scirocco was a pierburg. It was a complex and very well engineered device. When it worked it was very efficient and effective but sadly when it didn't, it was very inefficient. Because it was complex and difficult to maintain without special knowledge, most people opted for the webber conversion. The webber is not as efficient but it is simpler and easier to maintain. It will not give you more HP and it will burn more fuel than a well run pierburg but it is a lot more reliable if you don't know how to keep a pierburg.
