You can't put 16 inch tires on 15 inch wheels (or vice versa), hence the different sizes.

You can, however, put 16 inch wheels on a vehicle that normally has 15 inch wheels. You just need to ensure that the bolt pattern and center holes are exactly the same measurements and you may need to use a lower profile tire to achieve the proper tire-to-wheelwell clearances.

They don't even have to be manufactured by the same company. The most important thing is that the speed/load ratings are consistent with what the manufacturer of the vehicle calls for. This information can be found on a decal on the driver's or passenger's door jamb. If the decal calls for say P215/65/R16 94H, you must make sure that you get the right size tires with a 94H speed/load rating or better.

Another Answer That depends on where you purchased the tires. Many places include free lifetime tire balance when you purchase tires from them. Other places will soak you for quite a large fee for mount and balance when you either purchase the tires or have them changed. Caveat Emptor

The car is designed to have a certain size tire on it. The suspension is tuned for a specific size. Changing wheel or tire size changes all of the engineering that went into the suspension. The sidewall of the tire is what supports the weight of the vehicle. Using a bigger rim with a low profile tire will cause added stress to front end parts and will have a much harsher ride.

It can be done and is fairly easy if you have the right tools. Adjusting caster, camber and toe on most cars is usually a matter of adding/subtracting shims on your a-arms, adjusting tie rods. You have to buy one of the kits that has the alignment head that attaches to one of your wheels, have a shim assortment, torque wrenches and good basic hand tools. bear i mind getting what you need to do it yourself will cost more than having it done professionally-most alignments only run about 30.00.
