Does a company have to provide workman's comp for part time employees?

Depends on the state, total number of employees, etc. Even if the employer is exempt from the *requirement* to carry Comp, he remains liable to his employees.

If your employer doesn't carry Comp, ask him to discuss it with his insurance agent, who can help him understand the costs of insurance versus the potential costs of being uninsured.

There's a viable alternative in most states for independent contractors and those employers who are exempt from having to carry Comp: Occupational Accident coverage can be customized and often is less expensive than Comp. They aren't the same, though, and when used for independent contractors I personally feel it should always be paired with Contingent Liability.

Does family workers have to have workers comp.?

In Pennsylvania, yes.

Is workman's compensation necessary?

Workers Compensation is necessary because an employee who is injured at his / her job can collect medical benefits, salary & scheduled bodily injury compensation while he / she is hurt without having to sue his / her employer first and prove negligence in order to get compensated. Workers Compensation is meant to be insurance to help the employee while injured until he / she is able to return to work. Without this insurance, employees would have to sue their employers (with money they don't have) and win before getting compensated. This form of 'no-fault' insurance for injured employees was supposed be an 'exclusive remedy' between employee and employer. Unfortunately, attorneys have intervened in the process and added extra costs and problems to the system.

Is a work comp settlement different from weekly benefits?

Yes, Worker's Compensation refers to a worker who is receiving benefits because he is not working due to health (job related injury or illness), whereas unemployment compensation has to do with compensating a worker for his loss of a job through no fault of his own (in most cases).

Why monopsonist wished to restrict the employment?

Monopsonists employ as many workers as they wish, like all employers.

Where do you get a workman's comp exemption?

First you need to get in contact with the state, make your businees become incorporated(L.L.C.) then you need to fill out some forms, give your business info like what type of work you do,etc.. I don't remember the websites but I will look it up again and will re answer you again. I don't think you need to be incorporated to qualify for an exemption, but please be sure that you WANT to exercise an exemption. You will remain liable for all work-related injury claims even if you exercise an exemption. If you're self-employed with no employees, your clients or general contractors will want to know you have coverage on yourself so THEY don't get stuck with YOUR claim.

When will you receive compensation for time off due to injury?

In the State of Nevada the employer has 24 hours to fax/submit all accident/incident information to the workmens Comp office. By 24 hours I mean after the hospital has returned the required paperwork including drug test results to the employer, and/or any investigation into the events leading to the mishap has been completed. If the investigation take 2 day or a week they then have 24 hours to submit. If medical treatment was required the medical facility will submit a claim for payment against the insurer/state. REMEMBER: The employer does not approve or disapprove any workmens comp claims, the insurer or state approves or disapproves any compinsation provided to the injured party.
