Stevin was the first to show how to model regular and semiregular polyhedra by delineating their frames in a plane. Stevin also distinguished stable from unstable equilibria. He proved the law of the equilibrium on an inclined plane, using an ingenious and intuitive diagram showing a rope containing evenly spaced beads draped over an inclined plane (see the illustration on the side). Physicist Richard Feynman discussed the diagram in his 'Lectures on Physics', and imagined that the diagram had been inscribed on Stevin's tombstone. In reality Stevin's grave does not exist.

He demonstrated the resolution of forces before Pierre Varignon, which had not been remarked previously, even though it is a simple consequence of the law of their composition.

Stevin discovered the hydrostatic paradox, which states that the downward pressure of a liquid is independent of the shape of the vessel, and depends only on its height and base.

He also gave the measure for the pressure on any given portion of the side of a vessel.

He was the first to explain the tides using the attraction of the moon.

In 1586, he demonstrated that two objects of different weight fall down with exactly the same acceleration.

i know that the Aztecs did, but I'm not so sure about the rest....

Gold, God, and Country. The first explorers came to the Americas in search for a faster route to Asia. On their journey they found a previously unknown part of the world and with it, an unknown people and culture. When the conquistadors entered into the great cities of these awesome empires (firstly Tenochtitlan, the capital city of the Aztec empire) they encountered a fortune in gold and new crops that they could take with them back to Europe. Some examples of these new foods included corn, avocados, chilies, vanilla, yams, chewing gum, and chocolate.

They also believed it to be their Christian duty to convert the polytheistic natives to their monotheistic Catholic ways.

Lastly, conquering the majority of the western hemisphere in the name of Spain ( and Portugal in the case of Brazil) was a smart strategic move that could gain them land, power, and more money.

The battle between the spanish and the Incas went on for days, if it wasnt for Atahualpa who told some of his men to retreat and hideaway somewhere the spanish (wohooo, spain!!!) couldnt find them. this act saved about 900 Incas from death. Now days there are still Incas living, they are called Peruvians, yes Peruvians were Incas this whole time, who knew. :)

They brought Catholicism to the new world

The Aztecs used traditional knife-like weaponry and spears for the most part, and gunpowder was not introduced until the Cortes and the Spaniards came. His troops demolished the inferior weaponry of the Native Americans with their guns and cannons. Neither. The love of money is the root of all evil not the money itself. Many rich people have been both sincere Christians or strongly against it. Similarly, many poor people have been both Christian or not. So it is the heart not the wealth itself that is important.

The actual verse:

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Timothy 6:10

When Jesus challenged the rich young man to sell all he had and to come and follow him and said that he would then have treasure in heaven, he did not mean that he was wicked because of his riches. Nor did he mean that he could thereby 'buy' his way to heaven. What was the problem with this man was that his wealth stood in the way between him and a total commitment to Christ. With another person it may have been something else.

The problem with wealth is that it does for many people become a passport to pleasure. They use wealth to get whatever they want in life. A big boat or house or holiday or expensive cars etc. So the wealth is used for things that are essentially the 'god' of that person. They worship that thing and they will then step on people to get or keep it.

On the other hand, many other wealthy people use their wealth unselfishly for the good of others.

Moorish empire

The Spanish explorer and conquistador Hernando Cotes' was faced with the opportunity to enrich Spain with precious metals and new colonial territory when he took on the task of defeating the Aztec empire. His modern weapons and the with the help of Native tribes that the Aztecs had conquered, made his efforts easier and helped Spain become a huge colonial power.

They didn't.

The Spanish destroyed their empires but the Mayan, Aztec, and Inca peoples remain to this day.

Hernan Cortes (1485-1547) conquered the Aztecs in Mexico, while Francisco Pizarro (1471?-1541) conquered the Inca Empire.

It is bad because, people could have a chance they would die, lose all their land, special things, you wouldn't be making the gods happy and your empire/civilization would not stay alive, and everything might be chaotic.

The Mayas firstly used the concept of zero and designed an accurate 365 day calenders and kept written records. For the Inca, they used a decimal system and cultivated potatoes. Lastly, the Aztecs were good engineers who used aqueducts for water and cultivated tomatoes.

They were two completely different cultures. They spoke differnet languages, ate different food, and believed in different things.

The Spanish conquistadors that brought down the Aztec empire were helped by the European diseases they brought with them. These diseases had been previously unknown in the New World. The result was many deaths due to disease. Also, the gun powder weapons were an awesome power that the Aztecs had no defense for.

Cortes' arrival coincided with an important Aztec prophecy. They believed that he could be the god Quetzalcoatl, who created humanity. The Aztecs were also taken with the light skin of the Spaniards.

Cortes met a girl named Maria. She convinced people to join Cortes. Cortes soon build an army and concord part of the Aztec village.

He stole cocoa beans from them and that is how we got chocolate.
