It has a long history and stages of it becoming the Irish flag. It's origins go back to 1848. It was raised over the GPO during the Easter Rising in 1916. It was adopted in 1919 as the national flag in the war of Independence and then during the civil war of 1922 to 1926. It was officially recognised as the national flag in the 1937 constitution.

The Japanese flag has the red circle, and that represents the sun. Japan literally gets sunlight the fastest (International Date Line), so the circle means that Japan "meets" the sun the earliest.

The Macedonian flag has a yellow dot in the middle and has many red and yellow stripes around it.

It's not an 'x', it's St Andrew's Cross and has been on the Scottish flag for at least 1200 years.

Red, white, and green

This flag symbolises Aboriginal identity. Yellow represents the sun (giver of life) and yellow ochre. Red represents the red earth (the relationship to the land) and the red ochre used in ceremonies. Black represents the Aboriginal people.

The miners needed a symbol to show their protest at not having a voice, not being recognised with equal rights. The man who led the Eureka Stockade, Peter Lalor, declared, "We swear by the Southern Cross to stand truly by each other and fight to defend our rights and liberties." The Southern Cross symbolises Australia, which is why it was incorporated into an independent flag (and later also used on the new Australian flag).

The bird is an eagle. It is a flag that is only allowed by federal authority. Standing next to political buildings or on vehicles of military for example. There are to versions of the eagle. The one with the old eagle is an official flag for the federal authority and not for private use. The unofficial version, you can buy in shops. It is not like what the german law wants, but everybody tolerate it, if you take the flags on flagpoles or in windows.

"Six Flags" the amusement park chain started in Texas, and the six flags referred to are those of Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the US, and the Confederate States of America (before returning to the US).

The other Six Flags parks required increasing amounts of optimism to make the same "Six Flags" claim:

Georgia's supposed list was Spain, France, the UK, the US, the CSA, and "Georgia". France's historical connection to Georgia is tenuous at best, and Georgia's claim to have been an independent entity is much weaker than that of Texas.
